One natural thing people might do is wait for the gates to close before tapping but you don't need to do that.
In the far future when they widen the platforms are they going to have to reconfigure the concourse again? We need to get wider staircases to accommodate the wider platforms!I have no issues with what they did on the concourses or the retail/food court or any of that. My only issues with Union are (1) the platforms being so narrow and not having addressed this at the time (2) the shed having been maintained when there was a perfect opportunity to remove it. I really see no reason to have maintained it. It's ugly. Period.

Never done an overview of it- but I feel like the new concourse needs more bathrooms. I think on the odd occasion I’ve used one it’s got real 500 Level Skydome feels. Like, you dip in and there’s two stalls.
The west side food court with McDonalds and Tim’s and Taco Bell is routinely slammed with people. Which is daunting when you hit the head and there’s at most four stalls. FOUR stalls for a food court with a McDonald’s, Tim’s and Taco Bell?
Downtown, four stalls might as well be none. Cuz 1-2 are going to be non-flushed disaster zones, one will have someone camped out in it, and the last one is in use with a line. At that point, it's easier to just jump on any GO train than to work your way through the maze of union station.
They definitely don’t clean the washrooms enough. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a cost cutting thing or pandemic era cut, but they do not clean the washrooms enough for the amount of use they get. They need to pay attention to cleaning and odour - the area of the concourse right by the washrooms absolutely reeks - and it didn't use to.

The shed can be taken apart and assembled somewhere else (e.g., Exhibition Place, Portlands, Parc Downsview Park, etc.), perhaps as a new market building. There.... everyone's happy.Platforms are a big safety issue too.
The need to keep much of the existing train shed was baffling. Sure it may have "historical value" but functionally it prevents a lot of things (e.g., in addition to limitations from the way it interacts with the platforms, the older parts are pretty low for a catenary system to be installed above the tracks). There could have been a better way... I think what they did under the new central section was good enough.

Has Uniqlo set an opening date? Hoarding said summer. I’m running out of summer.
And lord knows the rules about white after Labour Day.
For every homeless person currently laid across the seats and smelling like defecation the city / province properly treats, bathes, and does the laundry for, they will increase a subway car's capacity by 10%.I don't think either the TTC or GO are ready for the rush hour crush that's coming later this fall when everyone is back to work 4+ days a week.
