It’s all a bit of a farce really.

There are rumours of possible tracks sinking near the Bayview station due to quick sand.

I’m not sure about that but there are hidden rivers in that part of town.

And how does one have a soft opening of a subway?

It’s either open or it’s not. IMO

I'm kind of wondering if this little dance means that the province is trying to deflect blame onto the TTC if September doesn't happen

You guys were all getting sick of me joking about "Cracked foundation slab at Eglinton" but this is ever better.

I didn't even know you could have quick sand in non tropical regions.

Hahaha.

😄

Under normal circumstances I'd think you were making things up.

Unfortunately so many things have gone sideways that this is actually believable.

What next.. the discovery of an ancient indian burial ground near Yonge and Eglinton causing another year long delay?

*sigh*

I had the same reaction when I read about it! 🤣🤣🤣

Didn’t even know there was sinking sand in mid Toronto.

I've looked for a rumour of tracks sinking at Bayview Station (or Leaside Station, which is what it will be called on line 5; I'm not sure which station we're even talking about), and can't find anything. Maybe it's time to ask for a source. Not that I don't think it's possible; the intersection (on Eglinton) is on a former or covered-over river bed.

What bothers me the most is not the project getting delayed into 2026 but more so why not come out and publicly say so rather than the public second guessing themselves and in a state of confusion. Just be honest and it will open when it opens.

They may not even know when it can open themselves. That's the most scary.

Ontario apparently is still doubling down on the September opening date: https://www.cp24.com/politics/toron...ton-lrt-despite-ttc-calling-timeline-a-reach/
Not to be too much of a stickler, but fall ends on December 21st. I keep hearing (including in the reporting above) that a fall opening is plausible—and certainly that it will open by year-end.

Is the schedule so tight that it can credibly shift from "not sure" to “definitely open” within that final 10-day window? We need to be accurate in our reporting—especially when it comes to public-facing communications from both bureaucracy and media.
