The original maximum they quoted was 10-15 m/day, as far as I know. That line about “this year at this pace” feels like careful wording and I don’t think Michael Lindsay was trying to mislead, but I’m not convinced their numbers account properly for maintenance time.

I already started this:

Am I going to need to start prepping the fryer for my Jays cap? Assuming there are no more long maintenance stops, I remember there’s at least one maintenance pause near Lawrence.

For fun, continued from above, here’s where we stand from recent updates:
  • Jan 2023: launch
  • Sep 2023: 500 m — 2.1 m/day
  • Jan 2024: 900 m — 3.3 m/day
  • Sep 2024: 1,100 m — 0.8 m/day
  • Jun 2025: 1,500+ m — 4+ m/day
  • Jul 2025: 1,900+ m — 13+ m/day
  • Aug 2025: 2,000+ m — 3+ m/day
  • Sep 2025: 2,368 m — 12 m/day
  • Nov 2025: 3,000 m — 10.5 m/day
  • Feb 2026: 3,450+ m — 5+ m/day
Pace has accelerated at times and even exceeded the original 10 m/day target max, but to finish on the remaining schedule they’d still need to average roughly 11–12 m/day, which is above the stated 10 m/day maximum when maintenance stops/time are included.
I was surprised in 2024 there were no insiders who mentions what was actually going on. I don't even know it has been released since. Probably from March to August there was a lot going on in the background.

In other news, updates for this project on Instagram will be moving from the ScarbSubwayExt account (which will "be closing soon") to MetrolinxToronto.

Now it's even more questionable. Perhaps delaying it by a few years is not a bad idea after all.
I have my doubts on this post. It smells fishy just from how its written, doesn't even make sense in some parts (Metrolinx is not responsible to fund the SOGR of Line 2...), the comments are generally negative at OP, and then when someone asked, his source was a Steve Munro comment that doesn't even mention this stretch at all. For the record, this was the full source:
[Commenter:] Whats the problem with the [RSZ] from Eglinton to Davisville been there for a long time? [sic]

Steve: In common with some other areas where track is out in the open, the foundation under the track is in poor shape, and it is hard to keep the track in good alignment. This problem has existed for years. When Andy Byford was CEO, he talked of the need for complete reconstruction, but this would require closing the line for an extended period, not just over a weekend. Repairs are done to make do from time to time.
This comment could theoretically be extended to the above ground section from Vic to Kennedy, but frankly... this is just an insane level of interpolation from the comment to post.

TL;DR smells of rage bait. I wouldn't entertain this unless someone more reliable on here can support that line 2 from VP to Kennedy is in dire SOGR.

Scarborough’s subway extension delayed, confidential TTC documents reveal

Excerpt (paywall):

Scarborough will have to wait a few more years than expected for the long-awaited subway line meant to replace its mothballed RT.

TTC emails obtained by the Star through a freedom of information request show that the completion of the Scarborough Subway Extension, originally set to be completed in 2030, has been delayed until 2033.

”(Scarborough Subway Extension) Public date is 2030, with internal planning date for 2033,” TTC staff noted in an email chain about new Line 2 subway trains.

I will remind everyone of what the CEO said not too long ago about the tunneling...if the digging isn't the delay I wonder what is.
Progress update from Michael Lindsay via this LinkedIn post.
The Metrolinx team forecasts that tunnelling for the important project will be complete this year at our current pace

It's probably signal and rolling stock related.

They are likely now realizing that they need ATC installed when the line opens and rolling stock to accommodate

Other than regretting the use of a single bore TBM, perhaps they also regret not bridging over 401 instead.
An interesting idea, however I'm not sure where they could have fit a portal for the transition. I suspect that was the primary reason the SSE ends at McCowan than Scarb Centre (Correct me if I am wrong, was not around when they designed the SSE.)

This is no surprise to anyone following the project.
