The TBM is currently traveling south, generally under McCowan Road, towards the extraction shaft located at Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue. As of May 7, 2026, the TBM has tunnelled over 4.3 kilometers out of the total 6.9 kilometer tunnel and is near Danforth Road and Hollyhedge Drive (Bendale Library).

From above: "As of May 7, 2026, the TBM has tunnelled over 4.3 kilometers out of the total 6.9 kilometer tunnel and is near Danforth Road and Hollyhedge Drive (Bendale Library)."

As of Feb 12, 2026 at the latest, the TBM had tunnelled "more than halfway". Which I'll interpret as 3.45 km. NOTE: Sheppard and McCowan to "Meldazy Drive and McCowan Road" is only 3 to 3.2 km, not 3.45 km.

That's 0.85 km over 84 days. At that rate, 10.11 metres per day, tunelling will be complete by late January 2027. Throw in some slight delays, a holiday break, another "planned stop to maintain the cutting tool and cutterhead" and we're at February 2027.

As the documents noted, tunnelling by Strabag began in January 2023 (which was “slightly behind their original schedule) and it was supposed to be substantially completed by October 2024.

Nearly 2.5 years late on tunnelling.

Going between line 2 and SRT was 2 levels, not 1.

For whatever reason, I thought it was charming to have a transit station with a train platform in the attic.

Fair point - I was thinking of the main bus level.

Still had more sensible solutions available.
