Scarborough has not much going for it, but it probably has better food than 99% of suburbs in the world.
Do you have some recommendations?Scarborough has not much going for it, but it probably has better food than 99% of suburbs in the world.
I will come back to this again. Line 4 will not be extended without one of........:
a) A connection to Wilson
b) A completely new dedicated subway yard.
Do you have some recommendations?
Since having a kid, my trips to the suburbs to eat have been severely curtailed, but just off the top of my head a few old favourites:Do you have some recommendations?
Federick's
I'd suggest following Suresh Dos (he used to do food on CBC radio) on Instagram. He has made a bunch of recommendations of restaurants and groceries, particularly in ScarboroughDo you have some recommendations?
Deserves its own thread truly.Do you have some recommendations?
Metrolinx appears to be quietly leaning toward integration with Line 2 in terms of rolling stock (married pairs), etc. So the expense of Wilson connection seems very unlikely.
Thanks! I'll try some of these places and I'll update you. I am already a regular for Federick's. I personally don't think it has gone down hill as some people say and it's still pretty good.Since having a kid, my trips to the suburbs to eat have been severely curtailed, but just off the top of my head a few old favourites:
- Fishman Lobster Clubhouse
- Federick's
- Hopper Hut
- Mom's Pan-Fried Buns
- Kairali
- Charcoal Kebab House (they're open downtown now too, though)

They may connect to Line 2 (for heavy maintenance access) and bore an extra 500m onto the tail tracks for train storage. Tunnels are fairly cheap without passengers as the expensive bits like emergency exits can be ignored. Just build an mine-style emergency bunker (air/food/water) that can hold 20 people drivers at the end of the tunnel.
No reason they can't do both (connect to line 2 and Wilson), especially since line 1 will get some of the new trains as well. Married pairs do have the advantage of allowing easy interchange between 4 and 6 car trains (what are they gonna do with the 4-car TRs when those are displaced from line 4 though, assuming that happens before they reach the end of their lifespan?).Sounds a bit surprising; they want to integrate with Line 2 that requires a new connection, when they already have a connection to Line 1 at Sheppard. Is that because of the train length? Or the control system?
Anyway, thanks for the info.
They could easily keep the existing trains at Davisville and service at Wilson, while providing the additional trains from Greenwood.(what are they gonna do with the 4-car TRs when those are displaced from line 4 though, assuming that happens before they reach the end of their lifespan?).
If they decide to banish TRs from line 4 in favor of newer rolling stock, they wouldn't be able to convert them into 6 car sets to use on line 1, since most of those were specifically ordered as 4 car sets. Unless they could insert a pair of the newer rolling stock in the middle, provided they'd be compatible. They could easily keep the existing trains at Davisville and service at Wilson, while providing the additional trains from Greenwood.
Or, maybe we continue to acquire new rolling stock and replace all rolling stock on the network. The only issue is the demand on this line is not therefor a full train of the new rolling stock. So, maybe what is really needed is a true expansion of this line to warrant using the new rolling stock. If they decide to banish TRs from line 4 in favor of newer rolling stock, they wouldn't be able to convert them into 6 car sets to use on line 1, since most of those were specifically ordered as 4 car sets.
