Isnt MTSA default now? Like if it did happen isnt zoning around stations massive?
Around a station that doesn't currently exist? No.
There is no mechanism for an MTSA to automatically come into existence either.

Lobbying with the city? isnt this a Provencial project? Not sure what they hope to gain from that
- Future MTSA designations along the route; tied to future station locations.
An extension west is part of one of the options provided by Metrolinx for community engagement. I think the TTC report is more stating that for capacity, even given a connection to the Wilson yard, will still require a new storage facility at Conlins & Sheppard. Others may know more about the capacity at Wilson, but I think that if they were to only extend west (which is the least likely option I believe), then Wilson would have enough space for a few more train sets, but again there are others here that know more about thatAccording to the TTC report, any extension would need train storage facility and they are using the land at Conlins & Sheppard for consideration.. That would take the precedent over the Eglinton east lrt using those grounds for their MSF.
Why doesn't Metrolinx wanna extend this west as well for a northern crosstown
Yes, but they're only proposing to extend west to Sheppard West or Downsview, when they should be planning to go to the airport and/or Woodbine GO to take traffic off the 401.An extension west is part of one of the options provided by Metrolinx for community engagement
Fair enough, I think it has to do with budgeting (they can only build so much at a time), and the demand on the corridor west of Downsview. Sheppard itself ends at Weston, and the area isn't particularly dense. That would probably lead them to go down to Wilson to hit denser areas along the 401 + the Humber River Hospital. Also, keep in mind that Etobicoke and western North York have had a lot of transit construction over the past decade with Finch West and Eglinton West LRTs, while Scarborough has no east-west transit investment north of the 401, with more residents further from the Subway. Long term, it would make sense to extend Line 4 further west, but on the time scale MX is working on, it's simply not realistic to extend it past Sheppard West Station. But who knows, maybe once construction starts (whenever that will happen), suddenly they will announce further westward expansionYes, but they're only proposing to extend west to Sheppard West or Downsview, when they should be planning to go to the airport and/or Woodbine GO to take traffic off the 401.
Based on recent transit announcements (specifically the Brampton GO link/downtown Mississauga ext for HuLRT), we may see the westward extension announced at the next election.Fair enough, I think it has to do with budgeting (they can only build so much at a time), and the demand on the corridor west of Downsview. No point in putting too many eggs in one basket. Create a connection for west end early train storage sure, but a new facility in the east would create more flexibility. Perhaps a paint shop could be added to reduce moves to/from Greenwood Yard for example. An extension west is part of one of the options provided by Metrolinx for community engagement. Considering our current projects are probably going to be finished around 2035.... I'd say the generation after thatand built for the next generation?
Is there supposed to be two branches ? One which goes to Sheppard and McCown and another to Scarborough Town Centre ?
Are there any recent tea leaves indicating which option Metrolinx is leaning towards?99% sure its just 2 study areas that are being considered.
