Thank god they canned those stops. The fact a grade crossing with a literal highway was ever on the plans is obscene. I can assume the same geniuses (ie David Miller) who wanted to replace every stop on the 32 bus 1-1 with a LRT stop were responsible for that?
I've never heard that story. Do you have a link? Seems excessive - especially near Yonge.

Can't find the source I was thinking of, but this unfortunately blurry CBC article thumbnail shows the planned stops. I should have clarified, this would have been only on the at-grade section in Etobicoke, not in the tunneled section.

"Phase Two" has been broken into the "Eglinton West LRT Extension" up to the existing Renforth Station (located in Mississauga), and the Pearson Transit Hub extension (also located in Mississauga), which is still in the planning stage. Waiting for the Pearson Transit Hub extension announcement to be formally proclaimed by the Province of Ontario and the City of Mississauga.

To be honest, I'm really surprised at how few stops there are on the 32 Eglinton West bus! The bus is very similar to the underground Line 5 stops - so no surprise a surface version would be similar to the bus too!

the map is probably only showing the major stops with connections to other buses.... They do that with other maps as well

Ah, of course - I am an idiot!

Here's all the stops. I don't think I've ever seen a Finch West map showing anywhere close to that number of stops (18 between Weston and Renforth).

There's no access to residential streets so the stops are placed at intersections, which are roughly 500m apart. Much further than an average bus route. Which also meant it makes no sense to offer an limited stop express bus.

I also have no idea why anyone wants to use this bus stop between Scarlett and Emmett westbound. I actually don't know if it's there anymore since this is right beside the Eg West LRT ROW.

Does the TTC have a record of how many of the legacy streetcar operators requested a transfer to the Finch West LRT Maintenance and Storage Facility (at Finch & 50 York Gate Boulevard) for training on the light rail vehicles on Line 6? Probably would be easier to operate than in mixed traffic.

Why is the Finch West Line 6 not open yet?

Because many Finch West LRT glass platform walls have been damaged for months amid ongoing line testing. Cannot be opened until the glass platforms have been replaced. Once they are replaced, then maybe Line 6 will open. Unless they find something else to fix.

As the testing and commissioning of the Finch West LRT line in northwest Toronto continues, apparent acts of vandalism along the eastern part of the corridor are raising questions about maintenance and how deficiencies are corrected.

Mohammed Khan spoke with CityNews about several glass wall panels that have been shattered at the future Sentinel, Tobermory and Driftwood stations while graffiti could be seen on some of the glass at Jane and Finch station.

Khan said he raised the issue with the Metrolinx Finch West LRT community office multiple times since the spring. He initially chalked up the many shattered glass walls to seasonal temperature changes and wind.

“Their response was very positive and reassuring and they reassured me that they will take a look and they will inspect and they’ll take action fairly quickly, and that didn’t necessarily happen,” Khan said.

“I have to give them credit for being very cooperative in that manner, but nonetheless talk is cheap; action speaks louder.”

A CityNews camera operator noticed the shattered glass at Tobermory station at the beginning of April. When a CityNews reporter visited the scene recently, the same damaged panels still appeared to be untouched.

Makes sense to me to leave it as is until just before there is more footfall and therefore (slightly) less incentive to repeat the damage
