The UPX already runs beside it. There is no UPX station in the neighbourhood... at the moment. Line 6 however could run to the Pearson Transit Hub in the future. (The current Etobicoke North GO Station is being replaced by the Woodbine GO Station.)View attachment 661882
There is no need for a UPX station adjacent to the Woodbine GO. Especially if the Finch West Line 6 is extended to the Pearson Transit Hub. It would be an expensive duplication of service. And people can use the GO Train from Woodbine GO to downtown, if they so desire.

The original Transit Hub concept is dead. It was modeled after Schiphol: a cluster of Office buildings intended to supplement Pearson's income to reduce fees on airlines and passengers. This is why airlines bought into it so readily; they weren't expected to pay for the project and would get relief on landing fees.

If airlines are expected to foot the bill through fees, I'd wager Woodbine GO will be the north-west Transit hub [especially if Woodbine Racetrack kicks in for station upgrades for LRT connections] and it will be connected through an upgrade of the existing people mover. The PM tech can run multiple trains per track, at 3 minute frequencies, and much longer distances by changing some of the hardware.

Unless they haven't updated their website to include the death. Still showing Line 6 going to Pearson.

That whole transit hub concept is bonkers IMO and that's all I have to really say about it.

Assuming it is unrealistic and will not result in the proposed realignment of a straight railway corridor, the service plan I linked to from the Electrification thread shows a bunch of stops for UPX (done through two different "branches") while still maintaining a 25-minute trip time. I don't agree those should be done, but I definitely see Woodbine as a good hub for transfers between VIA/GO and the Airport. Whether that's worthwhile if Line 6 will get extended is another matter.

Also, Malton could have perfectly served this purpose while being a gateway between TTC / MiWay / Brampton Transit, but we're now on this current reality timeline...

Other than GO, I see no reason why we wouldn't expect all the other coloured lines on that map to get to Pearson. Some already do.

And yes, GO/VIA/Alto can serve Malton with the next generation of People Mover extending to Malton station. (here's a thought - a one stop elevated Line 5 extension to Malton GO!

Exactly. I'm not arguing Pearson T1 can't be served or be somewhat of a hub, just that it shouldn't be THE hub for regional rail.

Source is they funded and tendered a different, and much cheaper, terminal expansion plan: the pandemic killed the 2017 Union Station West business case. They had stakeholder meetings, an architect, and engineers working on it in 2019 and haven't mentioned that project since. Eglinton West not including a Pearson stop was also a very strong sign that Pearson's plans were in flux; Doug was certainly ready and willing to fund that transit extension.

I have no insider knowledge and eagerly await the next masterplan due in 2027. You can look at the current masterplan (released 2017); a lot didn't happen as laid out.

that means it is nothing near open?
Apparently most of the drivers have completed training so assuming that completes within the next 2 months the pipeline would be: Testing and commissioning -> 14 day trial -> 30 day simulation -> unknown bedding in period.
So that would be at least another 3.5 months of mandatory activities, but perhaps it will open by the end of this year?

Thoughts?
