Anybody who needs to commute downtown from Spruce Grove or Stony Plain will have a shorter commute.

What about people who drive straight through?

Hwy 16 thru Edmonton > Hwy 1 thru Calgary...that is, once the Yellowhead Freeway Conversion project is completed. It will be fantastic for tourism although it should also benefit everyday commuters. Still need to build bypasses for Lloydminster, Edson and Hinton and extend the 4-laning from Hwy 40 to Jasper National Park.

I was through today and loved it. However at least 6 people hate it today. from 170 to 184 6 different vehicles slid into the centre barriers. A bit of a skating rink today.

I wonder if the 66 Street flyover is still going ahead.
I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got from this: "The majority of the 82 Street to 61 Street project work will focus on the removal of the 66 Street at-grade intersection and include removal of any remaining direct access to Yellowhead Freeway."

Honestly I don't really get this alignment for 66th. So now there's no access to the YHT (except for that EB road that I'm guessing eventually merges into the YHT?), but they're still going to build a flyover for 66th? That's going to run over $100m guaranteed. Seems like a lot of money just to keep 66th st continguous--how much of a major corridor is it really? Especially when they just spent a whole pile of money widening Fort Road which is a stones throw away. I think the 149th model would have made way more sense which is what I'm assuming @husky was referring to.
