Maybe they're waiting to see if there will be any sports tenants? They seem pretty uninterested in sports in all of their marketing materials. And we know the Bulldogs aren't coming back.
I think I remember hearing about them/someone will be trying to get some team (AHL or OHL). It makes sense. As much as they want to concentrate on getting non-sporting events, there will still be plenty of unused days throughout the year where adding 40+ more days for hockey will definitely help fill out the calendar.

The Rock will be coming back. And OVG has more or less stated that they will pursue an AHL team. And there will probably be plenty of other sports played over time (NHL pre-season games, maybe NBA, maybe world junior hockey, various exhibition contests, et cetera).

Even if sports isn't the focus, there will be some sports. Additionally, some concerts/entertainment shows make use of the scoreboard for their events.

Was the target generally November 2025 to re-open. If so, one might think we might see some naming rights coming soon and even a sekection of concert announcements coming with that . Curious how box sales are going, likely will tick up with an announcement on grand opening date being revealed.

Yai think we'll see then start ramping those things up soon. I think last November/December they posted some sort of "stay tuned" for announcements.

Very curious what the first show will be, they'll want someone big for that.

Is this confirmed? I know the Rock are out in the woods in Mississauga right now - if they can't get back into this building they're probably DOA.

With softening ticket demand for World Juniors I imagine this arena might actually be too large for the event. Something like London/St.Catharines would make more sense these days, IMO. We'll see what venues they throw 2027 and 2029 in, I guess.

I think Hamilton would support WJC well. We've been so undeserved as a market for so long, WJC would do well here as well as Memorial Cup, but the Bulldogs seem to have lost that opportunity.

The Rock have stated that they will be coming back. One of their responses to one of the arena'a posts on Instagram said something like "Can't wait to come home!" The Rock has a comment today that says "Let's GO!! #RockCity."

I think my question to this would be: does the arena know they're coming back? 😋

I'm mostly being facetious, but if the arena is looking to become a leader in music and concert venue-ing then they won't be worried about losing 8-10 dates through the winter to a lacrosse club that only sells out the lower bowl. They'd be better off exploring AHL (again).

Indicated to be a music-first venue and no mention of sports tenants moving forward. Interesting.
The Rock will be coming back at a minimum. Oak View has suggested that they will look to bring an AHL team in. The concerts will be way bigger moneymakers for all involved.
