And I thought they were going to use black spray paint. Edit: added Surface mounted letters. Not so bad….. for a few years. Maybe an issue for some colour blind folks?? Someone posted a neat colour blind chart somewhere on UT. I will try to find it.

No big 92. Maybe removed? Can’t tell from my view. Go figure.

I have a red-green colour impairment; this colour is jarring for me on that background and I would have difficulty reading it at a distance, but I won't need to know where I'm going in this case!

Oh my! Maybe since they are raised some dirt will start to accumulate around the edges giving a shadow effect that will make it easier to read?
That's funny because I had the exact some thought. In web development the accessibility standards many organizations must meet are called WCAG 2.0, and one of the rules is around contrast. I suspect that if you put these colours into this contrast checker it would fail. I like the orange, but it's a bit too light against the grey and the letters "buzz" a bit.

Edit: Actually because I'm annoying like that, I eyedroppered the orange and gray colour hex codes out of one of the images above and stuck them into the contrast checker, and it failed with a rating of "poor". I know this is unscientific but it confirms what my eyes tell me.

I'm colourblind. I can see the letters.

I went down to the market this morning and picked up some beautiful red bell peppers.

Honestly, the market is growing on me. There's a lot of work to do inside and Front Street absolutely needs to be reconfigured because people were still crossing mid block by the dozens but hopefully the market comes into its own as it cements itself as a city institution like its south cousin.

They should just close Front from Church to Jarvis on Saturday mornings.

That’s the best solution. Besides the market itself, the south sidewalk in front of the restaurants from Church to Market Street is typically very crowded. Having that entire section pedestrianized on Saturdays would be fantastic. It’d also be a great chance to get photos of that iconic Flatiron + CN Tower view that’s not possible without jumping into traffic.

I completely get the criticism, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to judge this through a web test — it’s not an IAB banner. I doubt it was ever intended to pass a digital photography and web browser test from this kind of distance.

In my opinion, seeing it in person, it actually looks great. I was impressed — the color choice really elevates an otherwise mediocre entrance. It felt like a nice, welcoming surprise.

I got this same impression. The orange lettering seems to have “fixed” the off the shelf grey entrance. It suddenly feels fun and quirky. Some patterned orange dots on the glass might help further.
