Some projects just make me give up on writing well-written critiques. This one's fugly! Possibly one of the fugliest to go up on the waterfront. What say you?
...by simply stating that this is not what to do when trying to make something reasonably presentable. If you are going to say it is 'fugly' explain what specifically you don't like about it and perhaps what could have been done to improve it.
Maybe they will finally remove he old rail lines on Richardson
It's a simple, lighthearted opinion. Not everything needs to be an in-depth analysis and sometimes you need silliness to cope with some seriously lacking architecture. This isn't directed only at you Hamilton but a broader statement that what is the point of this type of statement?
Design is subjective so what might be ugly to some might be good enough or even nice to others.
If you are going to say it is 'fugly' explain what specifically you don't like about it and perhaps what could have been done to improve it.
For the record, I'm not a big fan of this development either but I'm not just going to drop in, say it is ugly, then move on. If I feel passionate about a project, I'll explain why I like/dislike it.
Cheers.
Nah...it's less about the materials, which seem a bit more qualitative given those involved both developmentally and architecturally. Rather the execution of it that seems of something they could only appreciate and love...leaving the public to likely wonder what the eff they where thinking here. And to put that mildly. /sighI think the major offence with this building are the cladding materials.
If you imagine it in a nice brick from top to bottom instead, it would not actually be too bad. Not a game changer, but not bad either (imo). That said, it isn't brick and the end result is not great.
