The most important image of all - the map:

Sooooo... we're back to a glass structure with token trees that will also get "forgotten" once they build the thing? Sounds a lot like what Doug did with Osgoode Garden's trees.

...oh wait, there are no rooftop trees anymore. It's just some shrubs. 😂

Look, I didn't actually mind this thing in its second iteration because it was pretty decent architecture cleverly hidden under what could pass for a hill in a forest. Now, it's just back to an ostentatious glass monstrosity with some shrubs planted on top that nobody will ever walk on.

• Targeted design and construction costs for the up to 3,500-spot parking structure are less than $400 million.

A good rule of thumb for a well designed above grade parking structure would be 350sf per spot maximum. 3500spaces at 350sf each gives 1.225msf.

Altus Group's Cost Guide for 2025 has a rate of $200/sf at the top end of their scale for a structure like that in the GTA.

That's $245m in hard construction costs.

Holy shit, they're building the parking structure on the waterfront 😑

Jesus Christ, so much room around Exhibition station and they're storing cars by the water.

If it weren't a $400M structure, I'd say who cares, this will be torn down in 10 years anyway but nope, we're stuck with a parkade blocking views of the water for the rest of our natural lives.

Thanks as always! Btw what about the new OSC?

The Ontario Science Centre is relocating to a new facility in the heart of Ontario Place, sparking curiosity and scientific exploration for a new generation of visitors. The enlarged exhibition space will inspire young people to discover the many dimensions of science in new and exciting ways. Science based programming aligns perfectly with the original vision of Ontario Place as a hub for education and visionary innovation.

That's all we have (for now)

Are they straight up lying in this statement? The Science Centre's exhibition space is substantially decreased by as much as half from the current building.

And they have this big a** access driveway along the water edge for the parking - and you know it won't be the beautiful empty thing (at least you'd hope it won't be).

Just missing the 6 storey parking structure there behind the beach that will block out the view of Hotel X

Replacing the view of one ugly building with another.

The Science Centre appears to be this new building located next to Lakeshore Blvd. There are no renderings of it and there is no connection to the pods over the water so not sure what their future use will be.

In previous iterations, it was possible to discern an underground connection to the central entrance to the spa and pods. I imagine it's still there as there'll have to be a connection between the main building and the pods/Cinesphere. That land side building does seem to have been moved further away from the bridge so that's going to be a pretty long tunnel if that connection remains.
