There's no station entrance on the south side of the street (orange circle below)
because the platform and tracks are too close to the roadway to allow for a ticket lobby area at grade.
So the only station entrance is from the north side via the overpass.
A lot of passengers will probably be confused by that configuration (at first).

Why would they do that? Like figure it out and add gates. Seems so foolish

The answer to your question is in the post that you quoted:
I find it really hard to believe some sort of solution couldn't be found, gates on the sidewalk for example. Are we talking millimetres of space between the platform and the roadway? That roadway is huge. What's the clearance here for pedestrians?

The terminus station for a downtown subway line and a regional GO interchange station that serves an entire neighbourhood of hundreds of thousands of people. A gate on the sidewalk? Are you serious?

The station requires a major concourse to diffuse the crowds in through multiple points of entry into a central space. This isn't the issue you're thinking it is: the majority of people are coming from Liberty Village from the north where the entrance building will be located. They're not going to cross the street to the south sidewalk; in fact there's no reason for anyone to be on that sidewalk along the rail corridor for several blocks in either direction.

Folks, according to the design documents for the Exhibition station there is an entrance at the North side of the station under the overpass. See below for screenshots of the relevant locations in the plans:

I do agree that it doesn't fully show the plans of that level but you can see that there are stairs and an elevator coming up to the concourse level:

Please see this post from @Jolene which also explains what I've highlighted above.

I actually do think they are planning on having a secondary ancillary entrance on the south side of "Liberty New Street", with stairs and elevators leading up to the 2nd floor "unpaid zone".
In the render (the orange circle you highlighted), you can see that there's space between the big concrete columns that go slightly inward into the building instead of just a flat wall, indicating an entrance of sorts. Although I guess some of the other renders do have more of a glass wall in place of the exposed columns... perhaps those are doors? It's a bit hard to say lol.

God forbid we had too many options for people to enter the station. What is the point of that entrance on the south side that's been circled in the photo then? A fire escape?

So is cut and cover really that bad, seems like we can do that pretty quickly & efficiently. Is the TBM that much faster or safer - I would assume so as it is installing tunnel rings at the same time as cutting & digging

Most importantly, tunneling is much less disruptive to the neighbourhoods above any station/tunnel.

Not to ask a boring question here, but where are TBM's coming from again? The official relevant loading pic further up the thread doesn't look like it's from around here.
