...my disappointment here is that they're not planning on replacing The Aura. >.<

Speaking of subways but just a thought! I think metrolinx should create a new proposed east, west subway line in the future to accommodate these very tall skyscraper and supertall buildings etc that are popping up between College, Carlton and Gerrard st would makes perfect sense. Since College st is the half way point between Bloor and Queen st subway lines. And already have line 1 stations on Yonge st and University Ave. Makes sense to tunnel a subway line underneath it eventually crossing below the Allen Gardens park to connect to Gerrard st. via east to the Ontario Line ont Carlaw st. and beyond. And west beyond University Ave station on College st to independently connect it's own tracks beside the GO and UP express tracks going north wards towards the City of York area station et. Would be greatly needed as the city grows to 4 million mark in the future in my opinion!Good to hear that there will be "minimal disruption" for the subway (according to the story) as they are currently redoing College Station to make it accessible in 2026. It would be terrible if the accessibility had to be removed for years for this construction.

I'm more pro-asymmetry than you are already, but I'll say that it's warranted here because the existing "podium" was the front for the Eaton's store, and now fronts office floors, but the new podium will either have residential or hotel behind it, so you'll never get the same fenestration anyway. I'm fine with the two variations on the theme. On the extended Heritage facade - I like it..............a lot.........BUT
The new old, does not precisely match the old old, in the render. The fenestration is handled differently with all dark colouring between the windows, the band near the roof is also darker.
I like it, unto itself. But it messes with the symmetry of the thing. I'm unsure about that.
The drawings don't imply that they're removing the skating rink (which I believe is on city parkland)It's not clear to me the skating rink is proposed to be removed ? They could still include that in the winter - but if not I agree that would be pretty disappointing to say the least.
Don't worry - plenty of time still for the inevitable value engineering.WOW! This is a bonkers proposal. I assumed it would be some basic facelift of the heritage portion with a bunch of new towers slapped in somewhere. But to actually "complete" an unfinished building from 100 years ago is next level by Toronto standards. Immediately the most interesting project in the city, IMO.

I reserve that complaint only for locations that offer a wedge shape for developers to take advantage of to offer the obvious solution!I was sure you were going to chime in and complain it wasn't a flat-iron.
