Today I passed by the site and saw no conveyor belt activity, no excavator dumping. The gates to the truck exit were also closed and blocked by work vehicles.

For anyone living near the site, how long has it been this way now?

Yesterday I didn't hear or see any machines moving but I did see two tunnel rings being delivered

Living nearby, the conveyer and dump truck queue isn't constant, and there are quiet days, but so far it's active more than not. I've not noticed particularly quiet droughts.

Today, I've noticed they've taken down the red portable crane

Could this jet routing be related to making the soil more favourable for the TBM to dig? https://assets.metrolinx.com/image/...SE_Jet_Grouting_Notice_Brimorton_May_2025.pdf

I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that MX has to constantly prep the ground for the TBM to bore through, shouldn't the soil already been factored in to choosing the cutting face?

Come to think of it, if they are still working on this til September, then the TBM probably isn’t expected to reach Brimorton until then.
The jet grouting is moving south of Brimorton now, with lane closures expected between late June and November.

Dig news! Excavation on the tunnel boring machine extraction shaft is complete at Eglinton and Midland Avenues. To accommodate the arrival of Diggy Scardust - our tunnel boring machine - we built a 24-metre by 25-metre by 15-metre extraction shaft where it will end its journey (link in bio). Pictured, crews used a tieback machine to drill into the walls of the shaft, keeping the surrounding earth stable.

Diggy has now travelled over 1.5 kilometres and is approaching the next station site: Scarborough Centre.

Is that from a twitter post?

Am i understanding things correctly or are my eyes bugging. There isn't a direct link to scarbrough town center planned ?

Edit: to add, they plan to move the bus terminals away from the stc it seems. Are they at least planning a pedestrian bridge or underground walkway to stc ? If not, those working at or around the stc will probably see little improvement in travel times, and in my case probably an increase and an infinitely worse winter transit experience than they do today traveling to the stc by bus.

Or even an entrance on the west side of McCowan.

There's knockout panels for future development by others. And there are plans for something - but I don't know who is responsible, or how they're feet will be held to the fire.

Of course, there's knockout panels at the newish Leslie station as well, to connect to the GO station and future development. 🤣

I believe this has been known for a couple of years now. Technical drawings back in the day showed no connection and it was talked about here (or at least I remember complaining about it). I would imagine a connection from the mall to the subway would be the malls responsibility; like the connection between Yorkdale Mall and its station. That said, something does need to be done since the current walk from the mall to McCowan Rd is awful.

I like the concept for the platform level walls, colour inside the stations is always nice. I hope the TTC & ML get over their obsession with bare concrete walls on the track-side since nothing says brand new like seeing water damaged walls on opening day. I get its cheap but with the way we maintain things here it just ends up looking run down before the station even opens. You can do neat things with concrete finishes but we don't do that here unfortunately.

To put that in context, CTV News reported on Dec 15 2023 that Diggy had bored 832 meters as of that date.
So, in the last 18 months, it has bored another 700 meters.
With about 5 kms to go….

I love your pessimistic approach. Doesn`t matter what is happening, everything is bad and not worth talking about. Sun out -> too hot, Sun in -> too cold. But I guess that's normal for the "Internet-Forum-Rambos".

You should be happy that MX started to communicate again and that the TBM travelled a good distance in the past 4-6 weeks.
