Our pocketbooks would whine.
But they're not whining about the Scarborough subway or the Yonge North extension?

I think the idea of extending the BD line to Square One, just like all other suburban subway extensions, is a horrendous idea. But fair is fair, and the precedent has been set (or, if you prefer, Pandora's box has been opened): if projects like the Spadina extension, Scarborough Subway, and North Yonge extension have/are happening, there are no legitimate grounds to deny Mississauga, or for this to be where we draw the line.

At least with HLRT being built, it will give the BD line a good connection that will have people funnel onto it as a potential.

Now if they could do something about that Sheppard stub line...

Why would people use BD from HLRT when Milton would get you there faster?

Last I checked, the Milton line is not frequent, and not bidirectional. So, lets say you worked in Mississauga and lived in Etobicoke, good luck with the Milton Line.

I live in Mississauga and work in etobicoke. Yup Milton line is pretty useless to me. I mean I’d like it upgraded but a subway would be better.

You can build it west to square one elevated and we won’t whine.
I assume that you have the credentials to speak for all of the residents of Mississauga? I imagine they won't be as enthusiastic.

Last I checked, BD/Line 2 to Mississauga doesn't exist. For the expense of building it, we can upgrade Milton Line. If you're trying to get to Etobicoke yes you want something frequent but you also want something fast.

Subway would be very slow.
Anyone touting the Milton line forgets what a subway is for.
I think most people think it's for paying $3 instead of $7 for their transit trip.

Not necessarily. Maybe you don’t need to go all the way downtown. Maybe you like the connectivity of the TTC versus the GO. (That Kipling transfer is a nightmare and it alone adds at least 5 minutes to your trip) Maybe you’re sceptical that the Milton line will ever be all day.

As for speed it takes about 40-45 minutes by subway to get from VMC to Union. It would be slightly longer to MCC. But not earth shattering longer. And if you live directly at MCC there wouldn’t be the transfer that currently GO forces MCC to take at Cooksville.

If the Milton line gets upgraded. Big IF I remain even more skeptics that they will run a branch to MCC.

In AM peak (and PM peak) heading west on Line 2 from Kennedy you see a lot of people getting off before Broadview. I see no reason that you wouldn't see the same on the west side.

With all the GO train lines, why not just shut down all subway lines? That is exactly what your response sounds like.

Fact is, this area needs more transit of all types.

Hey York region. You have a subway to Vaughan and you’re getting one to Richmond Hill. I think you can let others get some of the pie too.

I feel they might get one to Markham before one goes to Mississauga, unless you count the western extension of Eglinton.

Ontario Line north. I don’t doubt this will be a thing.

I don’t count Eglinton because there is not many Mississauga residents there and it’s primary purpose is to get torontonians to their or maybe I should say our airport in Mississauga.

As a Mississauga resident I’d prefer the crappy service of the Milton line, and the great lakeshore line (which btw nimbys won’t let us build appropriately beside) and a subway to square one then simply a upgraded Milton line.

The subway gives a third option for residents and the more options the better.
