TTCriders just launched a letter writing campaign in support of RapidTO bus priority lanes on Dufferin and Bathurst Streets. Please sign and share widely so we can counter the opposition to both projects!

Given the anti RapidTO campaigns have seen more short turns than the 504 King streetcar, I prepared a blog post discussing how the Bathurst & Dufferin projects came about, some campaign developments (which there are a lot), and how you can help.

Based on posts above there may be a perception (it certainly would have been mine) that Summerhill Market is unfailingly expensive, but I recently moved reasonably near to the main location and they do have some quite cheap meat specials and stuff. Not saying "go there, it's great" or anything, just noting it.

How low can these "Protect Bathurst" astroturfers get? Now their affiliate "Bathurst Is Home" Instagram account has resorted to attacking TTCriders for supporting the much needed RapidTO lanes on Bathurst and Dufferin!

Their Instagram feed is full of other questionable attack posts as of late.

It's true, everyone should get at their girl Dianne Saxe! Or Alejandra Bravo for the Dufferin lanes. Tell them not to be afraid, transit riders deserve to have their needs prioritized for a change.

Given Dianne Saxe's misguided proposal to exempt the Bloor to Dupont stretch from the RapidTO Bathurst project, I sent a note to her, Mayor Chow & TTC Chair Myers calling on them to stop it and encourage you to do the same. We must never compromise with car-brains!

While I think the anti-bus lane crowd here are overwrought nutters.........

I also think there's political maneuvering to be done to get things through Council.

Its not just this item either........there's lots of things left to get through Council that have a certain potential for pushback, that could be zoning changes like six-plexes, the new shelters being built, a large number of cycling projects coming up in fall for approval, followed by a pre-election budget.

IF the non-watered down version passes, great, I'm supportive, but if we partially sacrifice 3 blocks, out of 2 major corridors of RapidTO to get the rest done and delivered...........I can live w/that too.

I'm not sure if this is the fight I would commend the Mayor to whip the vote on...........there's an election coming in 2026.....

Hard disagree on being OK with the watering down. Just as how watering down protected bike lanes to painted ones would simply encourage cars to block the bike lane, not having bus priority lanes on Bathurst from Bloor to Dupont Streets undermines the benefits of putting in those lanes in the first place. If there's a space for cars to take advantage of, they will do so whether or not it's legal!
