The RapidTO Plans for Bathurst and Dufferin passed at TTC today (they still have to go Executive and Council).

There were, however, amendments.

But, fear not, pretty good ones:

Earlier this week I read posts by TTC Riders that the Bathurst and Dufferin bus lanes were getting strong opposition and tonight while walking on Bathurst just south of Dupont a bunch of businesses had these posters in their windows. The default text under the tape says "Summerhill Market Bathurst", and "neighbourhood grocer". Insane

Time to name and shame these businesses just as how the #BikeTO community has done to those businesses who opposed bike lanes!

Strangely, the registrant info for protectbathurst.ca is not redacted -- .ca domains have their registrant info redacted for free -- and shows it belongs to a self described "Creative director & brand strategist", Mari Loewen, who either is often contracted by Summerhill Market or an employee, with her name attached to the store on handful of stuff online [1,2,3,4]. A post on Reddit questions who's behind it and similar for protectdufferin.ca.

Edit: Registrant info through the CIRA keeps changing, probably because they're getting heat. Some people have screenshots with Summerhill Market as the owner, when I first made this post it was the individual Mari, and now it's changed again. Wouldn't be surprised if it all gets redacted

I felt a little crazy seeing the posters yesterday complaining about parking because Summerhill Market has a parking lot.

They even already have laneway access (grey door is Summerhill Market building). It's a narrow lane but just 60 metres away from Olive Ave.

Do you guys think it's an irrational worry that Doug Ford will hear about these opposition campaigns to the bus lanes via lobbying directly to the provincial government and come up with legislation similar to the one for bike lanes where bus lanes cannot lead to removal of traffic lanes?

He is cars, cars, cars, so you never know

Can someone explain why there seems to be a streetcar track on Bathurst, but they are also looking for a dedicated bus lane next to the streetcar lane?

Bathurst Street is used by 7 BATHURST bus between Steeles Avenue West and Bathurst Station, including between St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Station. 512 ST. CLAIR Streetcars use the streetcar tracks to get to and from the carbarns at Roncesvalles, Russel, or Leslie, and will use the tracks to get to the rebuilt Hillcrest facility.

There is no streetcar route that runs north of Bloor on Bathurst. As noted, the tracks are just used to get streetcars to Hillcrest at Davenport and for St. Clair streetcars to get to their route. The Bathurst streetcar route only runs south of Bloor (where there are no bus lanes proposed because there is no bus route).

This saga keeps getting crazier. Found out via Reddit that ABC Toronto (a.k.a. anti Progress Toronto) is now affiliated with efforts to oppose RapidTO bus priority lanes on Bathurst with their board member Jeffrey Kroeker having registered as a lobbyist on behalf of Summerhill Market for that file.

Man, I went to school with that guy. He was pretty annoying, but would never have thought it was this bad.

I don't go to Summerhill Market that often (who could afford that, in this economy?!?) but they have some really nice stuff that I will miss if I have to boycott.

I recommend Fiesta Farms on Christie.
