I'm a big fan of Kin. The space and bartending are fantastic. I had an incredible cocktail, followed by beer at an excellent price point. I refuse to knock a cocktail bar for offering German lager as an option.

To each their own. I don't knock anyone for having out of town beer on the menu, but zero local content? seems offside with the times. Also most of the cocktails had egg whites in them so while that may be good for some, it's not my thing. I also thought the food was really uninspiring and was expecting better from Ben Staley. I hope the space does well, but to my eyes it doesn't seem like he's moved far away from his 'pretentious edge' that made his last few places fail. Again, just my opinion. Unlikely I will be back any time soon.

I can't comment on the food (I had none on my visit) but I thought the cocktails were extremely good at Kin. My wife and I had two different ones each, none of which had egg white. But perhaps they've changed up their menu since I was there a few weeks ago!

I have always found the above conversations interesting. Really shows how hard it is for restaurants to navigate.

the dynamic of some wanting something interesting and new that stands out, while also wanting this or that which you can get at dozens of places in the city

Hit up Central Social Hall the other day and it was pretty decent I gotta say. The serve said that they have been working really hard to redevelop a work/lunch crowd.

They have a 20% off card if you ask and first Fridays of the month are BOGO.

I think this is exactly right. No bar or restaurant can be all things to all people.

Well that's good that the DT location is attempting to get a crowd going unlike their South side in the Four Points hotel. Went there during Football season last fall, 4 of us guys walk in for beer and wings - server tries to sell us a "Mimosa Bottle service," - I get it - she was young and doing what she was told - a "Sunday" thing for them. But we stood up and walked out trying not to laugh our asses off as none of us are "Mimosa" guys....lol

Every time I go to a brewery and get recommended an IPA I too immediately walk out trying not to keel over from laughter because how dare they not know that I don’t like IPAs from my general vibe

Glass Cafe is still not open. Either they had second thoughts about opening a cafe in this location, or they are held back by red tape bureaucracy.

I wouldn't worry about it. They had an Instagram post 10 days ago saying: "The new location will need alot of work. We are excited for the challenge but will be even more exciting to see our vision come to life in the next few months."
