Well damn, they're right up the hill from us and we haven't been yet. Will plan to remedy this at the nearest opportunity. Thanks for the recommendations!

I admit I haven't been there either, but I'm willing to try any recommendations from Lindork.

Walked over to a little hidden gem yesterday for a delicious La Parisien from https://www.macaronsgoodies.com/ on 101st/105ave.

I'm always amazed how they manage to stay open. All of 101 St from 107 Ave south to downtown is a garbage dump. Hoping the influx of residential will make a difference.
I've only gone to this location a couple of times. usually hit the St Albert location. They also do pastries for a number of restaurants and hotels I believe.

Another side note. Square One Coffee will be opening a location inside the new Covenant Wellness centre on the south side this fall.

I'm reckless about walking almost anywhere at Edmonton at any time of day or night, but there's a block or two south of Padmanadi that really gives me the creeps.

PS: seconding (thirding, fourthing?) the CQ Noodle rec
I used to be. It was a point of pride that this was MY city and I wasn't going to be afraid to live in it. That's not really the case anymore. But rather than scared, I'm mostly pissed off.

The worst block is 107 Ave to 106 Ave, there are always people camped in front of the sketchy convenience store and H&R Block there. If that Candlewood Hotel proposal went forward where Urban China was, it would help immensely.

Even better would be if Jay Robinson (owner of The Brick) did something with his countless properties that he owns (through Quinco Financial) along that stretch of 101 St., which includes those sketchy convenience stores. He's part of the problem.

Went to Next of Kin last weekend I have mixed feelings. The space is hip and gorgeous, but the menu leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Very odd and limited sharing plate options, none of which are really my cup of tea. But the most flagrant violation was the fact they don't have a single local beer on their menu, and most of what the out of town beer they have is canned not draft. I know it's more of a cocktail bar, but even that list wasn't particularly inspiring, again in my opinion.

Never heard of it, but now I know why.....place is just screaming to be another restaurant victim in this city. If they have "Banded Peaks" beer from Canmore - owners deserve to go to jail! Btw, literally across the parking lot - you'll be able to visit Nero very very soon as training is happening and can't wait to check it out.

Checked out Oro last weekend at L'OCA - done Pyro a few times, since our kid was bartending - she made me all 4 variations of their Negroni's - all deliciously bitter! Spicy Rigs was out of this world along with the BEST Arancini we've ever had!

I'm a big fan of Kin. The space and bartending are fantastic. I had an incredible cocktail, followed by beer at an excellent price point. I refuse to knock a cocktail bar for offering German lager as an option.
