When I was a student in the States, Jimmy John's was notorious for making workers sign ridiculous non-compete agreements. (I think they couldn't go on to work at any business that made more than 10% of its revenue from sandwiches.) I hope they've changed their tune.

Jimmy John's is another American chain that I'll avoid like the plague. I'll continue to dine locally at places like Farrow.

Harvey's and Swiss Chalet will do fine..I rarely eat fast foods anyway. Lots of local choice for burgers, pizza, donairs, chicken etc. My life will not be diminished by not having a Burger King Whooper.

LOVE Bianco! Can't wait till their sister restaurant - "Nero" opens up this month. Saw the menu - octopus (my fav) and other extremely high end and eclectic items that will surely impress.

I feel my live has been improved by avoiding certain US fast food places like Burger King and Taco Bell. Too much unhealthy food is one reason US life expectancy is lower than ours.

Tim's is not American. Although the company who owns it has offices based there, their controlling shareholders are Brazilian and the remaining are scattered mostly between Europe, Brazil and Canada.
But you have Harvey's/Swiss Chalet, Panago, Pizza 73, Swan Pizza, Mucho Burrito, Taco Time, NY Fries (despite the name), Boston Pizza, Mr Sub, Deville, Second Cup, Blenz, Pizza Pizza, Mary Brown's... The list goes on...

On top of a really stellar list of local independents. There really is no need to support chains when our city has such a great and varied food scene.

It occurred to me that it's been a while since I bought anything from Sunterra so I ordered lunch from them.
