So, now that we have more daylight than not, the days are getting warmer, the geese are getting angrier, has anyone noticed any signs of patios returning yet? Apart from the usual suspects (eg Rocky Mountain Ice House, Cask and Barrel, Cafe Bicyclette, Next Act). Bonus points if it's not directly facing a stroad...
Leopold's is always good, but it is stroad-adjacent. Maybe Campio?

Had lunch at Cavern this afternoon as part of Downtown Dining Week. Had the smoked salmon bagel with slaw and chips, followed by a cappuccino. It was my first time at Cavern and it definitely won't be my last.

P.S. I told the ladies behind the counter that I can't wait to brag about their place on social media - here it is!

My Downtown Dining Week adventure continued with my first visit to Dagu Rice Noodle during lunch time today. The Salty Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl was good although it's nothing to write home about. I know this is one of Linda Hoang's favorite eateries, therefore I'll need to return and try some of their other dishes.

I concluded Downtown Dining Week with dinner at Shoyu Sushi, a favorite eatery of @IanO. I had the $35 dinner with beef teriyaki don and the chef's choice sushi, and washed it down with a hot sake. The food was delicious although a tad filling. The restaurant was much busier than when I last visited, so I hope they continue to have a long life.

Does anyone know what's going on in the long-empty space next to garneau pub on 109 st? i'm seeing some activity in there but no signs.

  • Culina’s Little Italy location will be transitioning from an event space to Culina Famiglia, an “approachable Italian spot with great food, wine, and neighbours”. It will open this spring at 10821 95 Street.
