Edmonton City Council could've easily created a MLC back in 2007 as Calgary did but they did not think it was a priority at the time, unfortunately.

Edmonton's mayor at the time was Stephen Mandel. Wonder how he sided or what his objections were if against.

I went to check out construction progress in the north corner of Phase 1. Landmark has started foundation work at Lois Argue Rd. Encore is making good progress with its foundations for its new Kensington series townhouses on Navigator Ln. Crimson Cove has also started excavating for its new row houses at Pilot Lane.

Interestingly, Landmark now only has its show house available for sale at this point as far as substantially complete properties go. And, of the 12 homes it has planned or building, it has sold six: four of the eight on Lois Argue, and two of the four on Pilot Lane. At this point its houses on Lois Argue Rd are only starting foundation work, and its houses on Pilot Lane have construction fences up but no significant activity yet.

Just saw on Beljan's Instagram, the Athletes Hangar. I'm assuming its in Blatchford in one of the hangars? Nice development

So, apparently, despite living here and being interested in what's going on, the Blatchford Authority managed to dig an entire new drainage pond without me noticing. I'm not sure precisely when this happened, but given the absence of the weeds that rapidly take hold in any available bare soil, I am suspecting that this has all been done very recently. I only found this because I was walking by the first pond and wondered, "What's that weird noise," and walked towards it and found a de-watering pump transferring water from this one to our established drainage pond, presumably to allow for more work upon it.

Right now it's two drainage ponds, but given how low the area in the middle is and how the first drainage pond incorporated a system of islands into it, it wouldn't surprise me if once connected to drainage and de-watering has ceased it will become a single pond. Also in my second picture, you can see an excavator in the distance. That is to the north of all of this. It seems as if there's a major push under way to build out infrastructure and otherwise prepare for development.

From the top of the page. Shows two. Was wondering when they would do the second. Be interesting if any of those East side lots have waterfront vibes or if it will be parkland separating the water from the development. I liked the original plan for buildings/walkway touching the water.

Is it now possible to drive from NAIT through Blatchford to Kingsway ave? The satellite image makes it look like the road is finally connected. Cool if so. So weird to think in my (not sooooo long) lifetime: I’ve picked family up from their flight arriving at this airport. Then once commercial flights ended, took a school field trip where we could go on a short flight and hold the controls in a Cessna. Then attended the Edmonton Indy. Then road my bike along the closed runway. And finally, now you can (or soon) drive on public roadways through the site.
