First time I have seen police "patrolling" downtown since the hockey play offs. Must be an election coming up, or someone is paying EPS for overtimeHaha! Cops patrolling a block party of 18 year old students when 3 blocks east is a roving herd of Fentanyl Hunchers leaving a path of complete and utter destruction behind them as they infect the DT.....
Yeah, Westrich pays for the OT...First time I have seen police "patrolling" downtown since the hockey play offs. Must be an election coming up, or someone is paying EPS for overtime
Was their pitch "Come work for us and you'll never have to visit downtown again!"My guess is that EPS (given that they had a booth there) was showcasing their team, hiring opportunities and making community connections as part of their overall work and strategic plan.
Weren't we calling for EPS to be doing this like 5 years ago? Good to see more of it now, but why has it taken so long?Yes, there are more beat cops doing community policing than before. This is a concerted effort by EPS to be more visible as their shifts allow. It's not perfect yet but it's better.
McFee isn't Chief of Police anymore lolWeren't we calling for EPS to be doing this like 5 years ago? Good to see more of it now, but why has it taken so long?
They are definitely shifting to a model of more presence. Finally saw some today at the corner of 101 street and 102 ave. I think there were a number of factors, the Mcfee war with council, staffing shortages due to high turnover and low recruitment and from what I was told directly a need to shift the mindset of some of the newer police to break the culture of riding around in cars to getting out and proactively engaging on the street.Weren't we calling for EPS to be doing this like 5 years ago?
