Are there any public amenities in these towers, or will it all be for hotel guests, condo owners?
There was mention of a Beltline Sobey's (they own Sobeys, Safeway and FreshCo) from this article, but I think the author may have confused the West Hillhurst Freshco, with the Beltline.Certainly doesn't qualify as "high end" but more urban format retail in Beltline would be nice...would love a Costco.

That Calgary doesn't have but needs? Not just what downtown doesn't have? That limits stuff away from a high-end hotel or movie theatre. So what, a water park or something? Or maybe a large high-end casino?Nothing to do with the Calgary tower or new supertall....Think more, something high end that "Calgary doesn't have but needs". There are a lot of things coming down the pipeline in the next 3 years.
That immediately reminds me of the Ontario Place Spa. I'm fine with that kind of facility, as long as it doesn't take away a public amenity space like it is in Toronto.Nothing to do with the Calgary tower or new supertall....Think more, something high end that "Calgary doesn't have but needs". I suppose our rec centres all typically have 1-2 water slides in them, but I am surprised Calgary doesn't have a large indoor, year-round water park similar to the scale of the one in West Edmonton Mall. I feel that would be quite popular here, given how young our demographics are. That Calgary doesn't have but needs? Not just what downtown doesn't have? Well there is a building on that site currently being demolished … hmmmm…My chips are on FlixBus site east of Centre and 12th. Though the planned Green Line station there is likely to move Northwest with the above-ground alignment, which takes some potential out of the height.
Still, would be the ideal spot for something around 150–200m, help fill out the skyline after Stampede Station. Or something even taller would add some character to the view from the North.

I still love that original proposal for FCC. If they had built that second tower, it would be a standout, not just for the height, but architecturally as a cool looking design. Thanks for posting that article.
They talk about considering a residential tower on the vacant east portion of the site - god I would love if they went with the original 64 storey version of the existing tower.![]()
Exactly - I love the SOM design.I still love that original proposal for FCC. If they had built that second tower, it would be a standout, not just for the height, but architecturally as a cool looking design.
This would work well on the metro ford site or another lot on the south side of 9 aveCertainly doesn't qualify as "high end" but more urban format retail in Beltline would be nice...would love a Costco.
