New tallests are often proposed towards the end of the development cycle - lots of frictions out there in the local, national and global economy right now and a massive slowdown in immigration is well underway. Calgary has learned how to build rapidly, putting downward pressure on rents and house prices as well.I think these are the numbers they want, will depend on whether they can sell units, inflation due to tariffs, interest rates and a million other things. I still think this entire development is pretty pie in the sky, especially for a developer that's never built a building even close to this scale.
It would be great if these towers came to fruition quickly... but it also wouldn't be the first time that great optimism and a awesome render for a sleek new tower project comes back down to earth with changes to economic conditions, and the inherent financial and logistical challenges of building something so large.
