The Edmonton Journal did reporting on the concerns that Edmonton taxpayers were receiving fewer amenities in their park projects compared to other jurisdictions for the same amount of capital expenditures made on park projects. Cutting the water feature out of the Warehouse Park could just as well be another example of paying more for less. Some transparency behind the generalizations given for cutting out the water feature might end some of the speculation about why it was done.

For comparison, a new park in central Vancouver.

I walk by this for work a lot. Much smaller area. Very cool to see them adding this an demolishing the existing old crappy building. Skatepark is a killer addition and the playground already attracts many kids, glad to see an expansion.

I honestly think the quality of the playground they put in will greatly help/hurt the activation of our Central Park. If it’s lame, it’ll be empty. If it’s worth the visit, families will come.

Pls let it have actual playground equipment and not just rubber play mounds

I just really hope they start to move away from those rubber mounts they've been adding as "playground" in all the recent parks

I had this idea for a Warehouse park fountain... I would call it Papaschase' Ghost. The first iteration is that of a midsummer's day; the second of an ice fountain (mist conversion) in mid-winter where I also took some liberties with the headdress between versions.

The copper "feathers" would gain a patina over time slowly oxidizing to a flat mottled green shade -- I would view that as a design plus. The head band would be fashioned out of brass.

It does have that 50s or 60s vibe, which may be in fashion some again, but I suspect visitors will look at it in a few years and think this is something that hasn't been upgraded or changed in decades.
