I hope they buy the land and extend the park. Spending $40 million on a beautiful public space only to hide it behind a building makes no sense. They could even add a tennis court there to elevate the park but maybe its too much to ask for our city.
I feel like calling the park hidden is pretty untrue…

- Basically an entire block opens right to the street on 106st.
- Jasper Ave has a massive opening due to 107st closing.
- 108st will have multiple openings through The Parks and the NW corner.
- 102ave has a large opening at 107st, directly flowing into the Norquest park and LRT station.

It’s not like the park is at all hidden, not visible, or hard to access. I wouldn’t mind them adding more active uses like tennis/pickleball courts. But that feels like an easier add to undeveloped sites in our downtown. We need the tax revenue from new towers and this lot is prime for development.

I'm not a fan of these playground mound things.

I thought those were rocket ships but on second glance looks like they still need to be stood up, they are trees!
And I was worried we wouldn't have any big mature trees.

The park is continuing to surprise. A couple dozen more trees were being delivered today while I was there. Impressive to see.

It is the design illusion... raw space always feels smaller than end result detailed space. It has to do with elements that break up the l-o-n-g view.
It's the organic design that creates the illusion. Would have preferred a traditional grid patten because of its ability to seamlessly blend in with the natural landscape. Secondly, part of the role of a downtown park is to ground the city and establish its presence. However, that ship has sailed. We're going to move some dirt around and go johnny come lately style - and before everybody on this thread goes defensive crazy - a case for that style can be made too.

Although the park isn't finished and although there are elements people wanted to see that won't be happening or may be undersized (the playground), as I see this entire space take shape almost daily, I really see this park as something very special (as we should expect given the investment). The sheer volume of trees in all the spaces in particular with more and more being added daily is pretty awesome to see.

A unique Edmonton landmark.
