Wait hold up, did they try to turn on a red light, and not shoulder check the fact there's a huge ass train coming their way?

Revoke the license, raise their insurance rates to "fuck around, find out". Valley Line train always wins.
We are SO past due for some aggressive enforcement of no right on red wherever there are signs indicating such. Not a day goes past that I don't see drivers completely disregarding this without any care for consequences.

At this rate, just get some peace officers to camp in these hotspots and fine them consistently and often.

People won't learn unless it financially sets them back massively, and I'm fine with that. If you can't wait 30 seconds to turn right, that's a you problem, not an us problem.

Turning left onto the Whitemud from 75th has a green arrow. Turning right from 75th has a double red…..so yes, this fool done messed up real good! Uber or Skip the Dishes?

Another reason for gates…
Seriously.

I get that a lot of the line won't get them based on how it's designed (and lots don't really need them), but on some of the problem areas it's a no brainer. Roper Road, Whitemud, etc. this is where most collisions seem to be happening, and it isn't an urban area, no body on the highway overpass or industrial area is going to care it's not "urban low floor design." Protect your investment at some point, and gate the problem areas.

Jokes on us, insurance rates are already at fafo prices in Alberta.

EPS did a couple of day-long blitzes last year when there was a temporary no right on red on 90 Ave turning onto the 50 St bridge. $287 tickets all day long. Mostly Rams and F150s too. 🙏😂

If the train is out of commission fully, would insurance pay for an entirely new one? I'm curious on how that would all work.

Should have Fines Doubled for those intersections. I think that $287 is the usual amount for turning on red. It's still going to happen though.
The suggestions of crossing arms at certain problem points makes the most sense . It'll cost millions since the West section will need them as well. It is a multi-billion dollar project though. All you need is a serious injury or worse and that's potentially millions in just one lawsuit.
In regards to accidents, I do wonder how other cities with low floor Lrt are faring.
