Stony Plain Road and 124 Street intersection reopens after Valley Line West LRT construction

“The overall project has passed 40 per cent completion, Cox added. They are expecting to be at 60 per cent by the end of the year with full completion anticipated for 2028.”

I personally like the full closure of intersections for expedited completion. I would hope they do this for more phase and for future LRT projects.

Valley Line West has many critical intersections, perhaps more than the SE segment. I hope for two completed goals:

(1) Track crossings at 124 Street and other major intersections done.
(2) Track beds completed for much of the LRT.

I haven't noticed any mention of "Art" pieces being installed on the West leg stations as compared to the SE leg stations......?

For sure there is. I was referring to how on the SE Leg - there was art commissioned for each stop, ie - the "Dancing Deer" over at Muttart etc. However, no art commissioning for the West leg?

VLW has commissioned art but it's not like VLSE where every stop gets a piece. It's a hassle to design/install and way too easy to vandalise.

I don’t think we need art at every station. I think the major ones like WEM, Misericordia, 124 Street and MacEwan would be prime candidates.

LRV update:

The first Valley Line West Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) is scheduled to arrive in Edmonton by summer 2025, following months of rigorous testing in South Korea. This includes low-speed dynamic testing, systems validation and a final inspection.

Additional vehicles in the 46-LRV fleet are in various stages of assembly and testing.
