It's only with the H-5 that air conditioning was added to subway cars, which added 10,000 lbs
I wonder how much of the extra weight came from adding the AC vs. the chopper controls. H6s added even more, probably due to force-ventilation of the traction motors.

Interesting side note, in order from heaviest to lightest, it's H6, H5, M1, H4, H1, H2. Lots of unexpected overlapping in this order.

I think you might be slightly misreading the chart, if you're talking the order of weight per car (edit: my chart was wrong, your order is correct), but you bringing that up made me realize I got cumulative rounding errors for PSI, so I'll fix that.

I'm just talking about the total weight of each car.

Thank God the initial design was just a place holder. It looked homely and outdated.
Curious, do you now feel the same way about the render you made back around 2018, especially since it incorporated design cues from the H1–4 series? Personally I was always baffled how the H1–4 design came out before that of the H5–T1, rather than the other way around, as the former had more detailing that the latter lacked (the latter literally just subtracted all that detailing leaving only the base design).

No? Obviously I like what I created otherwise I wouldn’t have shared it. Having said that, it was 7-8 years ago and I would do something different today.

I wasn't implying you don't like it, I was just wondering if you'd see it as outdated now (obviously being outdated doesn't mean bad, and it's entirely possible & valid to like outdated designs more than modern ones).

Yes, I said the design is 7-8 years old and I would make changes to it if I were doing a new one today.

But I will add: I don’t think it’s as dated looking as the first new train car renders that were put out. And it’s not just being dated. There’s something a bit unrefined about the TRs. I think the Azur trains in Montreal were much more thoughtfully designed. That’s why I was disappointed with the prospect of a TR clone.

I'm no fan of the TRs in general, but as far as I know everyone thought they looked top-of-the-line/futuristic when they first came out, so I still struggle to view them as outdated/vintage at this point already (it's been only 15 years, and the youngest aren't even 10 yet). And I struggle to see the TR clone as more outdated than yours, since yours appears more boxy (again, not saying that's a bad thing), just like I'd say the R211 appears more outdated than the TR despite being more than a decade newer. I did like the idea of having the TR clone supplementing the TRs, because I felt that it looked like a sleeker & more refined version of the TR (i.e. the single-piece smooth windshield with red paint was a nice touch vs. that of the TR), but on the plus side there'll be more variety with what we'll end up getting, if that's the final version they'll move forward with.

People’s aesthetic preferences are subjective. I was never too keen on the TR design to begin with. So seeing the first proposals looking very similar was disappointing. And then there’s seeing other cities like Vancouver, Paris and Lisbon with what I think are more attractive trains. I do think we might be approaching the point of really over analyzing the issue now, though.

Been fixings tags and streamlining photos shot over the year as well adding more info to them. While working on Marseille France transit photos, I check to see what the LRV's were and surprised they were Bombardier Flexity Outlook not the Alstom cars I thought they were at the time. I shot a few in 2012 between train connections to Nice. BBD delivery 26 of them at 32.5 m as 5 sections in 2007 only to add 10 m for a 7 section in 2012 at 42.5 m. Maybe BBD should have offer TTC this model in place what we have today

CAF is suppling 15 Urbos 100X based on BBD design for line 3 extension. The first arriving in July 2025 and enter service January 2026 with the rest to be delivery by 2030.

Nice ROW with no concrete like St Clair or QQ with a single lane of traffic.

Car stuck in Queens Quay tunnel, shuttle buses replacing streetcars

A vehicle drove into the Queens Quay streetcar tunnel leading to Union Station and got stuck, according to the TTC.

The TTC posted on X at approximately noon on Tuesday, saying there is no streetcar service between Queen Quay West at Lower Spadina and Union Station on both 509 and 510 streetcar routes due to an auto stuck on the tracks. Shuttle buses are running to replace the streetcars.

A dark coloured Honda sedan appears to have driven down the tunnel, which begins near York Street, and managed to get as far as the platform at the Queens Quay Terminal stop.

TTC crews were seen operating a hydraulic rail crane to extract the vehicle from the tunnel.

It is unclear whether the driver remained on scene or if any charges will be laid.
Didn't cars already tried to enter the tunnels for Line 5 or Line 6?

I don't know if impressed is the right word for the driver to make it all the way to the platform. That's a very long distance to drive on/around raised streetcar tracks.
