I like that the Alstom trains in Budapest (line 2 & 4) have a nice cream interior somewhat reminiscent of the H-series (or even the R42), rather than bland gray/white.

I know the trains well. I believe the M2 trains were retrofits of the Soviet Trains while M4 are new trains.

The bench seating is amazing in them although I do miss their old trains.

Line 2 & 4 use the same model, but 5-car vs. 4-car sets respectively, also line 4 is ATO (no cabs, just a full-width railfan window) while line 2 is manual. So basically similar situation to our line 1 & 4.
Line 3 is the one that had the old 81-717 (and Ev3) trains that were replaced in 2017/2018 with a refurbished model (81-717.2K), none of which have open gangways. Just like our line 2.

New images of the new subway cars released.
These are pretty nice. Thank God the initial design was just a place holder. It looked homely and outdated. Especially compared to rolling stock in places like Paris and Lisbon.

I adore the red livery.

What are the chances we will actually get red trains? Could keeping them stock colour be a penny pinching exercise?

These are really attractive! And just when it was beginning to feel like we'd never be allowed to have nice things...

When the new LFLRV livery came out on the buses, I spoke to someone in the design department and the TTC was very keen on leaning very much into the red in their branding. So I think there's a really good chance the red stays on the train.

Just noticed the interior has a green colour palette. I’m fairly certain it’s just a place holder. But it would be in line with the Bloor-Danforth line colour.

I’d personally like to see vinyl covered seats with a red pattern or various alternating solid red shade’s throughout. I’ve had an interior design idea for years now, but I just never got around the sketching it out and putting it through Photoshop.

Ideally, all TTC-operated rolling stock would adopt some version of this livery, at least as a long-term goal. Unfortunately, we’re now locked into the rather dire colour schemes on Lines 5 and 6 for a generation.

Question, when most of the NYCTA’s subway fleet including the R46s which did get Full on rebuilds. How come the TTC H4s, H5s and even the H6s didn’t get Full on rebuilds unlike the GM New Look buses from the 1990s to 2004. Didn’t it had to do with the Mike Harris Transit cuts that affected the full rebuilds on the H4s or the H5s at the time?

Alstom to Provide New Subway Train Fleet for Toronto’s Subway

Alstom will manufacture 70 state-of-the-art, six-car Metropolis metro trains for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). The agreement includes New Subway Trains (NST) to replace the fleet on Toronto’s Line 2 and to serve subway extension projects.

The new trains will be designed and engineered in Canada, with final assembly in Thunder Bay (Ontario) and testing in Kingston (Ontario), creating up to 945 direct jobs in the country.

Fifty-five of the 70 state-of-the-art, six-car Metropolis metro trains will replace the aging fleet on Line 2 of Toronto’s subway system. The remaining 15 trains are planned to serve on the extension of Line 1 to Yonge North and the extension of Line 2 to Scarborough.

The NSTs will provide comfort, safety, and accessibility, with features such as brighter, more spacious interiors, open gangways, and multipurpose areas for wheelchair users, strollers, or bikes. Equipped with energy-efficient lighting and innovative technologies, including an active leveling system and wireless smartphone charging, the NSTs will deliver a modern passenger experience, said Alstom officials. The trains will also be protected by the latest in cybersecurity technology.

Did Alstom do Finch's Line 6 Fleet?
