I don't see how it would cost $3 down the road. Should be a lot easier to put in an elevator then, because of what they've done now.

The same way the 2010s TYSSE stations used a different platform design, to allow them to support the weight of platform doors without having to do extensive structural work to the platforms.

Though who knows when these elevators will happen. There's been little talk of Phase IV of Easier Access lately.
Very easy to cost more if you look at some of the currently locations.

In some cases, the 2nd elevator will have to be located elsewhere and building the 2nd one beside the current one requires a lot more work and protection for the existing one.

I think @nfitz meant the locations like York University where the 2nd elevator is roughed in.

But in the case of the other stations that don't, if they knew a redundant elevator was going to be needed later it's definitely going to cost a lot more to come back a 2nd time

Updates on Easier Access in the agenda for the next TTC meeting..

Of note, High Park's elevators are now operational.

Also, here's an updated schedule for making stations accessible from the Major Projects Report:

Interesting that the seem to be playing down Old Mill, by not showing a date.

If you look at the ACAT report from the same TTC meeting, it says it should be open in 3 years - which is 2028.

April 11
Rebar being place for the roof slab at the south with most the forming in place for the north end. Being a poor day for shoot, harder to shoot through the mesh

These elevator installations are taking much too long. I can’t understand why something that is so basic and has been done at multiple stations in Toronto takes more than 3-4 years to install. Take Christie and Lawrence. Why does Christie seem to open in Q32025 but Lawrence almost a year later when they are at nearly the same level of completion. I would imagine Christie to be more work as it’s 3 elevators due to side platform versus 2 at Lawrence. Yes Lawrence is deeper but it seems like the construction at Lawrence got delayed. It was supposed to be open this July now it’s pushed back by another year without any reason.

Sometimes it has do with infrastructure work, other times contractor issues.

At Warden for example issues they needed to run cables, upgrade equipment, etc before building shafts and cabs.

Other times like Lawrence West, they can't find a contractor who will actually complete the job. If I recall, they went through several contractors over a decade long span.

I was at York University station today, and saw the "ghost" future 2nd elevator shaft at the main entrance .To me it seems an odd form of penny pinching. Like all stations on the Vaughan extension it's grand and elaborate, and it seems bizarre that a redundant elevator was where they drew the line on expenses, yet they went to the trouble of roughing it in

Hwy 407 station, one of the deepest in the system, is insanely overbuilt. Yet is stuck with minimal escalators and elevators.

Forgot to snag a picture in the morning when the tarp was fully open on the other side and the area was more visible. Was still able to get a decent picture of the elevator shaft in progress between the pick up and drop off driveway (currently a pedestrian walkway to the temporary bus terminal) and the fare gate level.

Seems like the TTC’s current priority is to make Warden accessible as soon as possible even while the new bus terminal is getting built from scratch. Elevator from subway platform to fare gates, elevator shown below and the current walkway to the temporary bus terminal recently opened for use. I assume once this new bus terminal opens, this elevator and this driveway then serve pick up and drop off again.

The elevators are scheduled to open later this year and yes the PPUDO will reopen as well.

I think once the major construction is done on the elevator shaft and north side of the station you will see the PPUDO reopen.

Right now, they are doing sewage work on the north side of the station similar to what was done when they built the temporary terminal.

As I said before, I'm surprised how quickly this work is proceeding.

In the latest Major Projects Report to next week's TTC meeting we get an updated schedule for this program.

From the above:

Rosedale had progressed 2% over the intervening 2 months! What fabulous progress.....they still seem to be committing to it opening this month.

College advanced 1% in the same timeframe. Wow....

I guess transparency is good?

Quite right! If it were a Metrolinx report, it would read "We can neither confirm, nor deny that we have any ongoing construction projects, what stage they are at, if any, or whether they've cost anything at all"
