I think the arena will get a sponsor. I'm guessing they want that reveal to be closer to the re-open.
I think there'd be more interest in sponsorship for the arena than the stadium since the arena will be used A LOT more - which gives the name MUCH more exposure.
Agreed.

I didn't know that. The soccer team has already had some games at "Hamilton Stadium". With a lot of this type of corporate sponsorship of festivals. etc., disappearing, it probably isn't good news for "Hamilton Arena".

And the usual practice now seems to be that concert tickets are sold several months ahead of time, so if a lot of them are booked for the Arena, we should be starting to hear about more of them now beyond the one that has been announced.
Hamilton Arena and Hamilton Stadium are two very different beasts. I agree with berklon that the arena will have an easier time of attracting sponsorship.

While concerts do get booked in advance, I don't believe that there are many concerts at many arenas that have been announced into 2026 to this point. If you were to look at pretty much any arena's schedule, you will find that to be the case. I imagine that most of them need to figure out scheduling for hockey and basketball teams and such before ink is put to paper on anything.

Moving fast on the new sign.

Fair, it's not a dramatic change without seeing a before and after. It was previously all white (kind of a cream-white). The new paint is sections of grey-white and dark grey. You can see they've only painted the lower level so far. Seems to match the renders.

I'm excited for the reno, but the biggest disappointment is how unchanged the outside is. I was hoping for a big signature building like the Balsille renderings that really would have sent the message that things are on the upswing.

I think those are the AC units that crane was lifting in your one picture.

Thanks for sharing these!

Agreed, and I worry they won't even touch the sidewalks and outdoor plaza, which are in a sorry state.
Agreed, can't really call it a entertainment "district" when nothing is changing on the outside. Though that could come when HUPEG gets going with building the residential buildings on York. Redoing the street scape could happen as part of those projects. Also hope Yale properties takes the hint and renovated Jackson Square, including the rooftop area.

Yale has been silent throughout the whole process and I suspect that they will do absolutely nothing, much like they have for the last 30 years (the last major reno of the entire corridors). Will be up to tenants to see how they can take advantage of the adjacent asset/investment).

I think something would have to give. If OVG really does have a district planned, I could see them buying Jackson and turning it into whatever.

I don't think that OVG is in the business of purchasing shopping malls.
such a missed opportunity if SOMEONE doesn't do something with the Jackson Square property the potential to transform downtown into a true tourist, entertainment and shopping destination is there we just need someone with deep pockets and willing to take a gamble!

I feel similarly about the Eaton Centre / City Centre. A lot of problems would be solved with money. If someone were to plunk down a massive enough bag of cash, Hamilton could get an NHL team.
