Under established trees are not doing great this year in general. Not enough rain.

They are certainly removing dead trees but I hope they are not planting new replacements in the hottest days of the summer.

That is exactly what they are doing, right at the moment of peak-stress for trees where transplants are least likely to take, even in favourable weather. Maybe they'll get lucky.....

It looks like they removed at least 7 trees in blue compared to July 7 and they removed the grass from the core in red.
I did not see them planting any new trees and I think the remaining were existing.
No work happening today.
What’s next? How are they filling in the the two cores?

Other than the park work, the site is largely quiet. Even the gate was opened when I walked by today and I'm pretty sure I could have just waltzed right in

I suspect that's depending on the grass. The question is how the grass they choose will deal with the lack of sustained moister.

90% of the time they use Kentucky bluegrass if you were looking for a surface that you were going to cut and they will use more of a weedy English thatch for longer grass Kentucky blue needs at least 3" of water every 2 days to survive and I don't think they put irrigation system in that park so any fresh sod or hydroseed won't really have much to germinate with

As I am sure @NorthernLight will confirm, planting trees in the middle of summer is not going to result in living trees. It may be a temporary park but I had hoped for more than a few weeks!
