I don’t see the point of putting it so close to the new YMCA facility with nothing north of the tracks…The plan is to move the community centre to Ted Reeves. Shovels in the ground in 5 years. I am curious how the city made this decision. As I also see it as moving services from a high needs community to a low needs community.
We really don’t ‘get’ intermodal transport connections in Toronto when you compare it to West Hampstead in London for instance…I have lived for twenty years silently seething at the Leslie Sheppard debacle…and it was government owned property separating the GO from the TTC. Finally apparently being addressed…but you had TTC, GO, 401 and under highway parking where no one connected the dots. Looks like Danforth and Main will be another misstep…There's also unfortunately no accommodation for it in the redevelopment "plans" for 2575 Danforth: https://urbantoronto.ca/database/projects/2575-danforth-avenue.49398
While I agree entirely with the sentiment, I'd disagree with the use of the London as the model here. The competitive - not collaborative - nature of their system, especially in the early days, means it's the king of intersecting lines with no transfer stations. We really don’t ‘get’ intermodal transport connections in Toronto when you compare it to West Hampstead in London for instance…I have lived for twenty years silently seething at the Leslie Sheppard debacle…and it was government owned property separating the GO from the TTC. oooh. I believe that this marks the first green tower in the city, right? I know there are several other proposals as well..
