Awwwwe, the good old days. I was a season ticket holder back then. "Touch'm all Joe!" Looking at that shot, the stadium renovation has done wonders. I forgot how generic it looked back then. I have always said this building has good bones and the renovated stadium has proven that.
 
There are plenty of things that could be done to improve atmosphere with only minor upgrades to the exterior areas. Fix up the fountains, put up statues of the real sports heroes (Stieb, Carter, Bautista) instead of cable tycoons, and put in street-facing retail (remember the McDonald’s?). The beer selection is even worse now than it was a few years ago, and that should be fixed.

Places to congregate right outside the stadium will help, definitely. But the interior renovations are pretty good, and the complaining is tiresome.

The inside looks incredible, feels like a ballpark and is designed for how fans watch games. It's not a sport you sit in your seat for 9 innings—other than when the World Series is on the line. I like the bar patios and I think there should be more of them in the upper levels along with amphitheatre seating.

The outside needs work and quite a bit of it. It has a ton of potential. I'd like to see a park with a baseball diamond so kids can dream. We're playing baseball at the SkyDome! The rail corridor is right there, there’s room. Build up Roundhouse Park (or finish building it—whatever happened to that???) by converting the ramp and enwave facility across from the stadium into a decked over park.

Bremner from the Air Canada Centre to Spadina needs to be narrowed to one lane each way like it is west of Spadina to Bathurst. It’s not a major thoroughfare and pedestrians outnumber cars thousands of times over.

As for the stadium exterior itself, it needs more non-game day use. The area is dead when there aren’t games playing. The ticketing booths are no longer needed in an era of online ticketing. Pepper the grounds with digital ticket sale kiosks and keep a couple of info booths with a person. The rest of the perimeter should be made into bars, restaurants and retail that serves the Cityplace community surrounding it.

Toronto needs to act on this now. This opportunity might not come around again for… 32 years.

The fact that nobody stuck around to party outside the SkyDome speaks volumes. Everyone poured out to Front Street. Bremner and the empty space outside the stadium feel like a place to pass through on the way out, not to congregate. That’s a mistake and it can be fixed with good design and built-in purposes.

A big baseball themed brew pub with brick exterior and patio would be a great addition to RC. It would add to the non-game day street experience, and give Rogers a rental venue all year round.
 
I used to live nearby. The party spilling out on to the street after playoff games was epic. The joy and excitement was palpable and extends way beyond the walls of the dome. I’m glad they take the party outside.

The reason why there's no food on Bremner/outside of SkyDome or the ACC is because that devalues the vendors inside those facilities. Mary Brown's pays a lot of money to be inside because nothing is allowed within X distance outside.
 
I was thinking about the las vegas sphere, and wondering if the inside roof of the rogers centre could be turned into something similar.
You could project a blue sky on to it and call this feature a skydome.
Having this feature to display anything during a game would make the Rogers centre the best stadium in the MLB.
Imagine watching a baseball game and up above you see the northern lights or a space nebulae. or just showing some crazy stuff between innings.

I think the MLB/MLBPA would take issue with any projections on the dome as being a distraction. This is a league that blocks out dead centre field in every stadium for batter's eye to visually aid the batter.

Although many of the renovations have been good I don't think this would tangibly bring the stadium to being the best in the league.

Except Rogers Centre has a very liberal policy about allowing in outside food. You could go to any old Mary Browns, order everything in the menu and bring it in with you, along with an xl pizza, if you were so inclined.

All that said, I'm not sure where the property lines are but there is a decent plaza on the east side, between the stadium and aquarium. In theory (very theoretical), maybe you could take out that wall around Gates 5/6 and open up the stadium, add some inside/outside retail.

It definitely feels more like a ballpark and I have no real complaints. But one thing I've noticed at other parks (Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit) is how they open to the outside and that's the one area I could see improvement (yes, including statues of actual ballplayers, and Tom Cheek).
 
Just as small notice here: The Dodgers will likely cream the Jays in this next round for the World Series. But the silver lining here is that Trump likely hates LA more than he does Toronto...

...I still hope they will win though. But if not...and more on topically, hopefully the powers that be will start to put in ShonTron-san's sage advice if things end quickly. That's all.

With our luck, they will get to Game 7 and tie it up in the 15th with 1 man on. The power will go out and the lights will come crashing down from the roof.

We will then lose the game on a technicality.

During game play we can project a blue sky without the sun and between innings go wild with the animations.

When I went to Fenway Park 3 years ago, the atmosphere outside the ball park was incredible, so you have a great point here.
