I was at yankee stadium the year before it was torn down. That place was a dump. But ohhhhh look at the character. If the jays won more often people would have positive memories of the stadium. But with all the losing all you notice is the concrete. That said a state of the art waterfront stadium with a view of the city won’t bring people in if the product is trash.

I was never at old Yankee stadium, but have been to the new one and it's not great either.

I have been to Fenway, Wrigley and Petco, and I can tell you from my point view those places were amazing.

The point is if there’s a bottom line which is what Roger’s will spend it is much better to put the money to the product on the field than to a new stadium. Id much rather compete with an extra 150 million in funding for players over ten years than 1.5 billion on a new stadium and we can’t afford a competitive product.

I don't know what his point was, and the debate about how Rogers spends there money is a different topic. The topic at hand was really what we think about the stadium. The answer is, it's much better then it used to be, but still ranks pretty low on most people's listings.

Here's a few listings:

I actually think it is great after the renovations. The views are spectacular, location unbeatable, the way it fits into the city with all the buildings around it makes for spectacular visuals on TV (those drone shots are amazing). My big gripe is the outside, it could definitely look better with an exterior reno, but that doesn't really produce much revenue.

I’m not exactly sure why it’s bothering you. Do what the majority do. Watch on tv or move to a “world class city.”

You seem to like putting words in my mouth. It doesn't bother me at all. It was a simple question with a simple answer. Is it a great stadium? the answer is no. Is it terrible experience like it used to be? no

Not sure why you're making this so complicated.

You ragged on the stadium with another member for months about lipstick on a pig. Maybe you ran out of energy so nothing left to argue about. But the entire renovations all we heard was that this was a mistake and the jays need to move to a place with real grass, no roof and a view of the city. It didn’t matter if the skydome was a good location near transit. Everything over and over was that players would rather play in open air Cleveland than Toronto because of the atmosphere. So sure. You’re on your best behaviour today. But there’s a reason you’re being called out.

Once again misquoting me and putting words in my mouth. I may very well have said players takes these things into consideration (and they do), but if you want, I can probably dig up my old posts and I bet they will say something similar to this "They have done a good job making it not the cringe worthy place it used to be, but at the end of the day it's still a concrete bunker that's way to high with no charm to it."

If you want to call that "ragging" on the stadium so be it but you're getting into semantics. My opinion of the stadium has never changed.

The seats are still pretty uncomfortable and they lack cup holders. I also think it needs more social gathering spots too. But they have made some good changes. So it's a good improvement but it still has a long way to go.

That wasn’t the point. You can respond to multiple posts at the same time rather than one by one. Please follow this forum’s etiquette or you will be going on vacation.

Just an FYI, there's nothing in UT rules conduct that mentions anything regarding this. If you want members to "follow forum's etiquette", you should post something about it somewhere.

Etiquette/netiquette is just that, not a rule, but a generally accepted convention. But no worries, there are written rules regarding soap boxing, posting too often and contributing meaningfully, along with others.

Hopefully we can now move on with discussing the recent changes and any upcoming ones.

These Jays can only be good for Downtown Toronto. The SkyDome looked beautiful stacked to the rafters and Front Street turned into a party as fans streamed out. I'd love it if renewed interest in the Jays acts as a springboard for improvements to the stadium's exterior spaces and surrounding neighbourhood.
