I’m pretty sure that goes without saying or even asking…
Hope you are correct, but there are a ton of condo buildings in this city that do not paint the underside of the balcony slabs, I live in one. It is more important on some than others and this is one of them due to the crisp white lines of the tower.

Story in today's Star on the 25m pool located at the Community Recreation Centre here..........which has been closed for six months due to leaks.

The Centre opened in the first week of November, 2023; and the pool has been closed since early December '24.

This is actually the 2nd extended closure of the pool since the facility opened. From what I can discern the facility has been open (operating) about 12 months since 2023 and closed about 7 months total.

The City has hired an engineering firm to investigate the cause, but in the meantime has shifted all programming away from the facility until at least September '25, at which the point the facility will have been opened and closed about the same amount of time.

To date, no one is taking responsibility for the problem.

That's true if you have someone managing the situation who cares about getting the pool open again.

I would bet the problem is a leak in (or through) the concrete and the time is being spent trying to pin responsibility for it onto the contractor or THEIR insurer - which would seem likely as it is a new pool.

I think the pool is on the second floor, so in fairness the issue could be pretty complex. It's not just a hole in the ground lined with concrete like a resort in Collingwood :)

Having indoor pools above grade is not uncommon and most do not leak - certainly not within a year of being built.

Hey, I'm just trying to be charitable to the city staff who I just accused of not caring about doing their jobs!
If the pool is leaking it is probably a CONSTRUCTION problem and even if City staff were working on it 24/7 I bet it involves interminable discussions between construction companies, insurers and lawyers before any actual fixing can start. The City did not build the pool and once it is decided what needs to be done and who is paying for it, the fix itself is not going to be easy or fast if it involves replacing the membrane. I was also not blaming City staff for this.

One of our pools is actually directly above our underground parking it had a leak in the shell as a result of the calcium pulling from the concrete we had Canadian leak detection in and the problem resolved within 2 months this included draining the pool cutting out the damaged section and repouring it as well as retiling half the pool though if the pump room is not in the immediate vicinity of the pool that can make things a lot harder as this particular pool I'm referring to the pumps and everything for it are three stories underground so there's all that pipe I take back what I said earlier it could be a larger issue 😅
