And just a bunch more. Saw a plaque on the side of a stone, there was at least one spot to lock your bike up, and signs telling you how long the trails are...

I gotta take the kid out to see this. We've been tracking it since before he could walk or talk. Our "activity" on the odd days his daycare was closed used to be to go see the big offroad dump trucks and excavators.

Make sure to check out the zip line(?). It's the triangle structure in one of my photos. I saw a ladies' kid climb onto a rope (with footing). She told him to hold on real tight and she gave him a push and he went zipping from one side to the other giggling the entire way.

Can anyone give me the phonetic pronunciation of both the island and the park?

For the life of me I honest to God don't know how to say either. Like if I had to tell someone I was going to these places I wouldn't know how to say or spell them.

Which seems a little ridiculous for a public space.

Has nothing to do with them being Indigenous names. I think it's wonderful we're wrapping everything in Indigenous heritage these days.

It would be just as hard if there were long Celtic names or long Welsh names or long Slavic names or long Vietnamese names.

It's just that they don't exactly roll off the tongue, which feels like strange branding.

Oh-kway-min Min-nih-sing. I had to practice it for weeks. As for the Biidaasige Park. I'm still trying to figure that out.

Edit: Bee-daw-sih-geh
