...and oooo, that tanuki slide is open! So wanna go play on it! <3

Fantabulous!!! I live in Leslieville so this will be my go to spot forever! While riding my bike watching this transform for the last few years this seems to have taken forever. Plus all the dust cough cough lol. Now here we are.
I'm so happy for all of us to have this at our doorstep.

Amazing, amazing! Wonderful!
What a success, already. It looks great. And it should only get better as the trees mature and nature there comes into its own.
It's so uplifting to see Toronto do something so big, so well. The only comparable project I can think of is the revitalization of Regent Park. But this is so playful, complex and grand - it is really something.
❤️

Curious as to why they fenced in more of old cherry leading up to the former bridge. Anyone know?

Also noticed they didn’t save any of the old fire hall mural.

Old Cherry roadway has been fenced off from Villiers for quite a while. As your photo shows, the sidewalk on east side (only, I think) is unfenced until you reach 'the bridge". I think that at some point they intend to level the hill that went to the bridge a bit too.

Was up there a couple weeks ago and was able to get a few feet from the edge, which is how well behind the new fencing. The levelling sounds interesting .

one note I wanted to make today was omg they were surprisingly lacking in bike infrastructure.

I would have thought they’d set up a bike share valet or put in a rack. Nope. But I did notice a lot of pairs and family sets of bikes locked up together on just about everything around the play area. Bikes locked on signs, fences, even the thick log fences.

I did notice that they had dismount signs randomly throughout the park, with at least two different areas marked off for biking. Thankful that in my experience, nobody was zooming through or being a busybody yelling at people on a bike for existing

Went down for a ride to check it out myself, sadly after it was already overcast, but still stunning to check out and hear so much birdsong on the trails. The only negative was seeing some bozo already walking through bushes because he couldn't be bothered to follow the paved path.
