According to Waterfront Toronto "We are painting the crane white to match its original colour, and repainting heritage features like lettering and visible gauges in their original colour. The crane will also have new feature lighting installed."

Ah well, and here I was hoping for hot pink or something.

This was interesting… apparently the name isn’t usable in Canada Post or Revenue service computers. So they’re suggesting another name for those purposes, which kinda begs the question…

Finally- someone is talking about the practicality of these names. Fully support choosing Indigenous names, however there are major issues of functionality and accessibility (many folks aren’t able to pronounce or read them). Statistically, most Indigenous people are monolingual English speakers!

Every other language transliterates words from other languages/alphabets into their own. Why can’t we do this? It fixes all of these issues.

Also: Minising means “island”. This should be called Ookwemin Island because most people will be calling it Ookwemin Minising Island or Ookwemin Island Island 🙃

Like chai latte or tuna fish.

Should have been Crane Island in honor of the bird that would live in the original wetlands, and also the other thing.

Peak woke is cresting at various places in different rates. Peak meaning the farthest extent before some reactionary retrenchment (back to common sense?).

...actually I listed that on my bingo card numerous *pages back now. So it's been talked about for awhile now.

*Note: To be fair, it's either on this thread or the Lower Donlands' one. Mr. 42 was moving things around when the name became more officialdom.
