Taken 15 May. Heard that WT is shooting for 18 July to start opening the parks on the north and east shores of the Don Estuary. The north half of the Don Roadway is motoring along, the first sculpture for the LAT has been installed and the Firehouse is beginning to reveal wonderful detailings of stonework.

A few more images of progress that didn’t make the cut for IG. The city is doing great things with the bike stations as can be seen with solar charging (and devices!) and art! Also the ‘park’ on the south side of the Yellow bridge is actually paths for pedestrians and cyclists/scooters that connects the paths on
Cherry to the ones on the south side of The Don Estuary.

The poles serve many functions: lighting, banners, signage, art on top like Spadina and a playful image to the iconic wooden poles lining many of Old Toronto’s streets. And yes the green strips are reserved for future LRT tracks.

And as an aside I will be keeping an eye on the fate of Canada Posts extensive holdings on Commissioners and Eastern with this round of negotiations to see what gives. This time sounds serious!

1. Someone at WT has a wooden-pole fetish.
2. The green area on east side of Cherry and the south side of Commissioners is for the future QQE streetcar.
Maybe they can rehome the wooden pole from outside of Union, it can joint the herd here, and then give it heritage status with a plaque.

I always thought the former was done to troll UT posters who have issues with utility poles… 😼
