Why doesn't this structure have a roof, even a temporary one made of something like seasonal sun sails? Sun protection is a big issue for Biidaasige Park. It's a gem in Toronto but the tree cover is immature. While it grows in, we need temporary structural sun protection IMHO.
This is one of the biggest issues I have with this park. I get it's brand new, and will take time to develop natural shade, but it's very difficult to find cover from the elements and sun.
I'm aiming to come here on cloudy or rainy days at this point.

It'll take awhile for sure. Last summer, I took breaks out of the sun under the Commissioner's bridge on my walks. It's nice and quiet there as well. Also, the old firehouse has seating to just go in and hang out, though It's a very small space in there.

I remember how quickly the plantings matured at Corktown Common - it'll come quickly enough here as well. Give it like 3 years.

Design the future streets of Ookwemin Minising with us!
The Ookwemin Minising Project Team invites you to an upcoming in-person public workshop to help shape the future streets of Ookwemin Minising.
Location: Waterfront Toronto – T3 Bayside, 251 Queens Quay East, 10th Floor, Toronto
Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (please arrive before 6:30 p.m.)
Ookwemin Minising is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to imagine a new kind of place on Toronto’s waterfront.
This interactive workshop will bring community members together to:
  • Share ideas and feedback on the future streets on Ookwemin Minising
  • Participate in small-group discussions
  • Ask questions and learn more about the project
  • Hear a range of perspectives from across the community and connect with the project team
Whether this is your first time learning about the project or you’ve been following closely, all are welcome.
The project team—including planners, designers, engineers, and engagement practitioners working alongside Indigenous partners—will provide context and guide discussions throughout the evening.
Please note: This is a facilitated workshop, not a drop-in open house. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and activities will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Please RSVP on the Eventbrite page linked here, to reserve a spot.
For more information or to get in touch, please contact info@waterfrontoronto.ca.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Hey guys, I know of a little birdie meeting with the chair of the board of waterfront TO. If you have any suggestions on anything at all regarding Ookwemin Minising or the developments happening through WT, feel free to private message me and I can try to condense it into a document. If you guys have a vision of some sorts, this is the kind of thing I'm looking for!

I would love responses from all of you! The more the merrier.

Any insight on the flight path and how the new proposal would be affected?

Expansion…

With an early extended warm prelude to summer weather beginning Friday, expect an explosion of greenery (also thanks to having about 75% more precipitation than usual in March and April combined).

Waterways full, including spillover into all the marshy bits (of which there are many)…
