There are some surface spots at OP that will remain, so if they go with building the parkade within the Ex, they would need something very comparable in size to the Bramalea GO parkade.

Alternatively, they could go with the plan no one wants - to convert the surface parking at OP into a giant parkade which would be somewhat bigger than the Bramalea GO parkade, (but not double).

Yeah, it's still quite big. I hope it can be broken up into smaller buildings of mixed use and some of it could still be underground (but mainly on the Ex side, not the OP side).

Unusual Ontario Place redevelopment bidding process leads to fresh questions | Globalnews.ca

The Ontario NDP obtained a form with details of the Ontario Place bidding process using freedom of information laws. Leader Marit Stiles said it raises new questions.

While not directly related to the article. They mention that 34 bidders submitted proposals, and recently publicized the names of 7 of them

Information obtained by Global News during an ongoing freedom of information appeal process over the 2019 Ontario Place Call for Development Assessment Report revealed some, but not all, of the bidders.

Other companies from Therme that bid included Cirque du Soleil, Strom Nordic Spa, Badenhaüs Spa and two other projects titled OP Adventure Park and The McLuhanesque Experience.

Infrastructure Ontario agreed earlier in 2024 to release a list of seven of the 34 bidders for Ontario Place to Global News without explaining why the seven were selected and the rest of the report was withheld.

I've already griped about this in the other thread for the proposed "new"/rebuilt venue, but if they're going to keep the current Budweiser Stage operating, they need to add another or replace the one pedestrian bridge that remains with a much wider new one. It's presently a horrendous bottleneck for a crowd of 16,000 leaving there when a concert ends.

Is that giant parking garage going ahead? If so, it's one of those projects that leaves one dumbstruck and bewildered. We're in a multi-decade process of undoing the damage done to our cities by the automobile. We're urbanizing, densifying, removing car lanes, adding bike lanes, and building PT.

Instead of removing car lanes from Lake Shore, reducing parking spaces at Ontario Place/Exhibition Place, and encouraging people to walk, cycle, or take PT, these morons are making it worse by building a parking garage? Is this 2024 or 1974? Can you imagine Paris building a parking garage next to the Eiffel Tower then arguing that it's needed so people will visit? They'd be tarred and feathered.

To add insult to injury there's a bloody GO Train station right there called "EXHIBITION'. Not only that but there will be an Ontario Line subway station opening in 7 years. What century are these people down at Queens Park living in?

Hopefully, this project can be halted after the next election. It will cost Ontario $$$ to terminate it but it will be difficult to tear the parking garage down (and expensive) once it's built.

TBD. government says they're doing it above ground at the ex instead, but havent heard anything in almost a year.

They did say its because underground there would be closer to 800 million.

This project is going ahead. The parking is likely going to end up at exhibition place. Doug Ford's Conservative are also projected to win another majority government in the next Provincial election.

I may be wrong but I thought the garage was planned to be underground leaving the top for open space. It's not an all or nothing question. Ontario Place is meant for the entire province, which means there should be accommodation for families who drive into the facility.

There is more or less the same amount of parking in the area now than when Ontario Place was open and popular. We don't need more parking in the area, especially with all the transit options, including GO transit that brings people from out of town.
