Neither the TPS nor the OPP have done a great job of patrolling Toronto highways in the past decade, so I’m indifferent on the new OPP detachment. Driving is becoming an unsafe free for all, especially as congestion increases.

With the updated illustration of Ontario Place (with the OPP building but also updated with new Science Centre design), and vision illustrations of the Exhibition Place vision, the Hotel X and concert venue, and the Toronto Tempo facility, I thought I'd try mashing them all into a map. Not all of these are of the same perspective, etc etc., but it gives a bit of a sense of the change currently proposed.

The parking garage hasn’t begun construction yet. Not even a surveyor on site.

It’s worth noting that the Province had been seeking an alternate site, possibly at The Better Living Centre or on the Exhibition Place parking lots but both were ruled out because they were contractually required for the World Cup.

With the Cup weeks away, surely they can hold off construction of the parking garage until at least July and take possession of those north of Lake Shore lots instead of plopping down a garage on prime waterfront property.

Also no sign of Therme who mandated the construction of that garage in time for their opening. I’m sure an entire spa complex will take longer to build than a garage, so no rush.

I will be truly surprised if this fantasy private-spa every comes to fruition. I think we'll just end up with a new and worse science centre and a giant expensive garage-ma hal - here's hoping it does move from the waterfront to north of Lakeshore.
I would be much happier with an expanded Trilium park that spans from the current proposed parking garage spot all around to the west island anyway. It seems like it could be an idea more based in reality.

A couple of people here piled on me when I suggested that Therme wasn't even fully funded yet and that looks more and more likely to be true. Therme never getting built is at 50:50 odds for me and that's restraining my true intuition. Ford never getting to cut the ribbon, at even higher odds.

Maybe land forming gets started later this year or next but drags on and in a year or two they start putting in footings and either run out of money or the entire obviousness of the corruption on this finally catches up to Doug Ford and the whole thing is halted, leaving it a pile of flattened sand for a decade until the legal debacle wraps up and the government of the day makes new plans.

The Science Centre and RBC Amphitheatre will be built, because the latter has endless money and the former has the legal capability and lack of morals to put generations of Ontarians into endless debt.
