I don't see any fare gates for the pedestrian tunnel so far. Instead the design is showing exit-only doors to be installed between the main tunnel and staircases to platform.
I'm not sure why it would be exit only.

Though I'm also not sure why they broke the promise of a second tunnel that's further east, providing better access to a lot of Liberty Village. Hopefully they've at least designed for it, and the proposed western tunnel.

Love, love, love our new white bridge!!!

Totally a landmark for the east side.

Would you believe a random messaged me after I posted a shot on Facebook "its a lousy bridge. What's the big deal?"

I mean, I personally don’t understand all the excitement on UT over this basic-ass bridge. There are much cooler ones elsewhere in the city.
Sure there are better ones, like in the portlands. But its very far from lousy and adds a lot of visual interest to the area it's in.

It's going to be a nice big span between the yellow and blue crane when completed.

You really can see how much concrete bridge design has advanced over the years when you compare how far apart the pillars are on the OL bridge vs the existing road bridge. Very cool from an engineering perspective.

The original 1927 Leaside Bridge was built with extra structural support to accommodate a future streetcar extension. However, when the bridge was widened in 1968, that excess capacity was consumed by additional traffic lanes, meaning it was never fitted with a streetcar right-of-way.
