That's the plan, yes. The concourse will also be the route the general public will take to cross the tracks from Liberty Village.
Or you can take the all-exposed concrete tunnel across if you hate yourself.

There's a lot less steps to the current tunnel than the current stairs. I'm not sure what the future heights will be.

Though looks like we get escalators up to the main concourse! Once again a Metrolinx fail by not putting in three escalators for redundancy.

Eh, I think two escalators is fine. Granted the TTC is not exactly on top of their game with escalator uptime, and I dont know MX's reliability on that front; but if youre smart about it (so unlikely for MX to do) you could get reversible escalators and ensure one is always going up if one goes out of order.
(cough) union bay escalators (cough)

Whats far more important is the single elevator, as that has no redundancy and is a lifeline for accessiblility.

Some pics after the Exhibition concourse support installation over the weekend. I'm loving the criss-crossing lines that form from the diagonal supports.

They will erect the 4 North Paltform V columns this week and cover all these with steel decks. The rest of the V columns (6 per platform) will be erected in South to North, West to East sequences. By the time of CNE all steel decks should be in place and ready for concrete pour of Concourse slab.

Exciting! Thanks for sharing.

Instead of just a pair of escalators between each level in a station, there should be three (3) escalators. Two escalators in one direction when there are crowds, and one in the other direction. Then when an escalator is out-of-service for maintenance, there still is two escalators (one in each direction) in service. When there are no crowds, one can be shut down to save on electricity, but we will still have a pair of escalators in service.

P.S. I would use escalators as stairs if they are not moving.

Depends how long the stairs are really.

There better be more than two escalators in a station like Lawrence East, that will have over 200 steps!
Avenue on Line 5 has 153 steps by stairs. Only one escalator in each direction, and 4 sets, 5 if you include concourse to platform.
It would not surprise me if Metrolinx didn't install 3 escalators. (Also wasn't the plan to install high speed elevators concourse to surface? If I'm remembering correctly)

Imagine triple and quad escalators... And multiple sets from the same platform! Sydney can:

So the eastbound Ontario Line tracks will share a platform with eastbound GO trains for walk across transferring. So as long as Exhibition is the terminus all trains must terminate there or GO transferers will have to catch every other train.

Yeah - gross incompetence. Once the escalators get older, we'll see how frequently there's no up escalator working. With Metrolinx nothing surprises me. Well, escalators at Exhibition GO are a bit of a surprise :).

At Lawrence East the early Metrolinx design I saw, and I think the earlier TTC design, had over a dozen express elevators (which felt like overkill). But later ones seemed to value-engineer them into escalators. I haven't seen a design though since before the RFP was issued - so I don't know now.

No, eastbound GO tracks are on the south most of the time. Though any platform can go in either direction at any time.

I don't understand what you mean.

Metrolinx f'd this one up. They should've swapped the OL tracks to make Westbound transfers easier. Their reasoning was that to switch the tracks back to the 'regular side' after leaving the station would be too costly, but they could have left the Eastbound OL track on the North side and Westbound track on the South side for the entire line to make Westbound journeys a cross-platform transfer here and at East Harbour. There's no reason to have the line copy the other line's east/west orientation because it's permanently separated from them due to the different track gauge and power connection (catenary vs third rail).

They could add a third set of escalators by using part of the staircase. When not crowded, one of the escalators could be put out-of-service and be used as stairs. The staircase looks wide enough to be still have a set of stairs, maybe narrower, but still usable.

That one does. I saw one set in either Cedarvale or Eglinton station that didn't have any stairs! #fail
