Not saying I disagree with what you're saying, but doesn't Eglinton use Bombardier for both trains and CBTC? (Now Alstom)

You would think Line 6 Finch West would've had more software problems since they use Alstom trains and Thales (now Hitachi) Seltrac CBTC.

Ontario Line would have Hitachi for both trains and CBTC.
I am speaking to more of the contract side of it. Some things I've heard on challenges for Eglinton Crosstown were that the vehicles were procured in a separate contract on a separate timeline as the systems and signaling system, which means they were not tested concurrently, but more in series. As with all things with contracts, the terms for handover are strict and don't allow for a lot of flexibility where a situation may require more back and forth.

Does anyone know whether the Alliance-style procurement method addresses this inflexibility/allows for concurrency in testing?

But when you look at what CDPQ have done with the REM, it sounded like testing went off with no problem?
Is that attributable to better planning? a better product they used? or From the sounds of it..luck?
They had some issues during testing with the signalling system, but nothing that was show stopping.

Hell the Canada line has been running driverless trains for over 15 years. Why is this going to be so much different?
Because the issues are with setup and configuration, not the actual operation (usually). That's part of the reason why things are tested for so long, to try and find any edge cases within the system that were missed during setup.

There are plenty of cases where Cityflo 650 CBTC was used without as much of a hitch. But maybe @smallspy is implying an Eglinton level of incompetence for the Ontario Line (Hitachi; Seltrac or another product lineage?)
No, I'm implying that if things are missed in setup - or at least early on in the process - than they can become more and more of a problem in the sense that they get found far later in testing, and may require more untangling to resolve.

Tying the rolling stock with the signalling systems will probably also help quite a bit with the integration and testing aspect. Certainly there were issues that arose from the Line 5 situation with a separate signalling and rolling stock contract.
It does not.

The companies building these things are so big that there simply is not enough communication from division-to-division when it comes to things like signal setup and vehicle configuration

Each entry specifies "part of lots". From that I imagine the 6 properties identified last may are needed in their entirety, but the rest likely only require small portions of the lots. Could be wrong though
Yes, the other expropriations on Muriel/Pape are essentially easements. They aren't demolishing them and the residents don't need to leave their homes.

From a social post, some views at the MSF:

A big wall for a big job! 💪🏽🏗️

Crews are building a 115-metre retaining wall at the future Ontario Line operations, maintenance & storage facility in Thorncliffe Park.

The wall will help hold the ground in place so crews can build a strong base for future Ontario Line tracks.

The Ontario line bridges are mostly done over Dundas Steet East...

And the Logan Avenue Bridge as well...

They got all fancy on First Avenue, where all the townhomes are. Different siding (stone blocks) and smoked glass. Oh my. So entitled...

20260509_105200.jpg

And a whole lot of nothing going on at Gerrard Street East and Carlaw...

Intersection with Go Bridge...

Facing South West where the future Ontario Line abruptly ends before reaching Gerrard Street East...

New tracks are going down on the north side of Gerrard Square.

Great update, thanks. I kind of find that stone block retaining wall ugly. With concrete forming technology we have today, why do we do such a lousy job on transportation infrastructure. Take a look at some of the retaining walls built for new highways and rail infrastructure, I feel like we did a better job 50 years ago than we do now.

I smile to myself every time I spot a creeper vine or bit of ivy that has started to grow along the new sound walls....give it ten years and hopefully there isn't much bare concrete left to attract taggers. A promising start.

Ex Station. Looks like they've poured their first concrete slab for the new South GO Platform:

TBM. About half the shields are now pushed out of view and you can see the outer side of the tunnel liners left in it's place.
